I have to make a children's book as an assignment for school, and I want to know if what the story is based on was already taken.
What the story is about is:
An 8 year old girl steals money from her mom's wallet to buy her favorite skirt. She has nightmares that night and feels guilt inside, and decides to tell her mother. She finally confesses and her mother just gives her chores to do because of it. Helen isn't disappointed, she is full of relief from telling the truth.
I appreciate all that read this and answer this.

Is it the light?
Or the night?
...That you fight?
Lost inside,
Long ago,
Amidst those things,
Left behind?
Can you cry?
Can you try?
...Or just too shy?
Prayers for why,
You've eclipsed yourself,
Too many times;
Blinded yourself,
To all that shines.
In the corners,
Behind the drapes,
You'll find your pain,
Your hidden hunger,
Which makes you sane.
Is it the light?
Which makes your night?
Unopened,
Untouched,
Waiting,
Ever writing,
Lost in your fight.

An example is the video Frontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BWBn26bX0 ) If the link is deleted search for the video on Youtube. At the beginning of the video the actors appear as though they're in a black and white movie, however you can plainly see colour in the background, it appears it's done through a combination of stage light colours. Any ideas?

I'm a classically trained musician and orchestra teacher. I have often wondered why no one at the CMA awards or at the annual Latin awards or any of the other major music awards ceremonies seems to ever give thanks to the many people who taught them how to sing or how to play their instruments. A simple recognition from someone would be nice.

What I mean is that everything we can think of is given to us by our 5 senses except for self-creating, transcendental deities. Can you think of an exception to this? The idea of a God (at least certain Gods) that is a self-sufficient 'prime mover' cannot be empirical as there is nothing in our world, even at a quantum level, that is self-creating.

I am aware that mathematical axioms etc are considered a priori, but that's a different thing as all numbers can be considered 'units' of something and therefore empirical.

Do you know what i mean? I would be interested to get your opinions

I have a good friend who is a beautiful woman. She has the physcial looks of a Goddess. But she bitterly complains that her looks simply inspire lust not love in men. All of her adult life she says, she has been the object of desire of many men but not really loved by any of them. She has all but given up hope for finding a true love. She is 30,a nice warm person with a good heart and I tell her that it is too soon to give up--that true love is out there for her somewhere. My question is---Do you think I am right? Or is someone who is beautiful doomed to never know real love? Are people who have regular or common looks the real lucky ones? For when they find true love....they can be assured that it is indeed real?

We're all trapped.

Each of us is stuck being who we are. Sometimes we fight to change ourselves, but
ultimately this has little effect. We can change what we do, but we cannot change who we
are.

If you're a happy person, you don't feel trapped. If you're surrounded by people who you
love and who love you, if you can do what you want to do in life, if you are at peace with
who you are, why would you ever feel trapped? You wouldn't want to change yourself, you
wouldn't need to try.

If you're a happy person, hey, you got lucky! Go back to the previous page, you'll find
nothing of interest here.

I am not a happy person. Maybe you're not either. Maybe you're too fat, or too thin, too old,
or too young. Maybe you're ugly and nobody wants to sleep with you. Maybe everyone
wants to sleep with you, but nobody loves you and it's all meaningless. Maybe your body is
****** up and you're in pain all the time. Maybe your mind is ****** up and you're in pain
all the time.

So you struggle with all these problems year after year, and you're getting nowhere, and
you wonder if anything will ever change. And the unavoidable reality of it all is that, for you,
life sucks.

But of course you're not going to give up so easily, you're going to keep struggling to
solve your problems, to change yourself, to find happiness, wherever it is, whatever it is.
But still, life sucks.

And you see all these people out there who are blissfully free of your problems, and if they
can do it, there must be some way for you to as well. But they aren't doing you any good at
all, they don't understand what it's like being you, and what good would it do you if they did
understand?

So, the forces which created you, random or otherwise, have spoken. And they've
determined that, for you, life sucks.
