Hi! I found reference to four artists named Naumoff:
Alaskan: Alfred Naumoff.
Naumoff, Alexej (i)
German: Naumoff, Irene, Künstler Berlins 1946-1980,
Russian. P.S. Naumoff
Hope this helps you!

A painter by the name of Naumoff is not listed anywhere on the web. This means that he was almost certainly not well known. As for the possibility of him being an Israeli painter - under various alternative names - don't waste your time. There is no Israeli artist with this or a similar name. My advice to you is this: just enjoy your picture.

Marcel Duchamp, sort of in reply to a poster above me. He's a Dadaist "painter". The name of the group--Dada--came from the French word for "hobbyhorse", supposedly chosen randomly. The movement is rather nihilistic and irrational. Now I haven't seen your copy of the ship wreck painting, but one of his more famous and egregious paintings was one where he took out a reprint of Mona Lisa and penciled in a moustache. But this is probably not the same guy. L. Duchamp and a painting of ship wreck...Maybe he's one of those painters who was little known, as there are many? Here is a site that may be useful later on, even though I can't find L. Duchamp in it.

You can find on Artvalue.com a painter which is called NAUMOVA T. S., born 1923 (Russian), who painted a strawberry oil on canvas. Maybe it is your reference?
