I like to read and Im in high school. Recently I found out that my two of my favorite authors (Michael Chabon & Brady Udall) are attending a conferance in Grand Rapids. Brady Udall wrote my favorite book ever and hasnt released anything else, let alone do public appearances. Chabon is just awesome. The End. But Grand Rapids is out of state and a few hours drive, not to mention cost of admission etc. Once I started looking into it and I thought it would be pretty cool to go to,( since Im a writer) but should I just go essential for those two writers? Its a three day thing. Am I just getting ahead of myself, and would my parents take me?

Hi! My sister is having a baby and I'm hosting the shower. The baby's dad is Filipino and I was wondering if there are any customs or traditions that I could incorporate into the shower?! Even if it's food or a certain gift. Any help would be great! Thanks so much

k so i am going to be painting a mural on a little boys wall and it is going to be curious george...but the thing is the parents of the little boy both want me to do 2 different things, the mom wants just this picture of the rocket ship

http://www.curiousgeorgemovie.com/downloads/cg_dtop_07_1024.jpg

while the dad would like me to do the pic of the rocket ship and then have it kind of fade into this second scene on the opposite wall, which is this http://www.curiousgeorgemovie.com/downloads/cg_dtop_06_1024.jpg

and as a painter i really like the second option because it would look really cool and it would be fun for me to do, but i dont noe if it is the best one,
it might be a little too busy with both
so just give opinions or suggestions please
thanks
kathy

About 7 years ago I got the idea I should become a writer. I LOVE to read and admire great writers. At first I I thought this was just a pipe dream, but here it is years later and I still feel that same urge. I have fooled around with a few drafts of stories but have never sent them off, I figured I don't have what it takes to make it. But this thing keeps nagging me. Is it my destiny to write? I believe in signs and hunches. Could this be one.

I acquired this work of art at an estate auction a few weeks ago. I have searched all over the web and can't find out anything about it. Can you help? It is signed Marc Chagall at the bottom. I took a picture of it and posted it on my website.
I appreciate any information. Thanks!

Hiya all, just wondered what the general feeling was... Watched a program tonight about the Titanic, the theory was that it was actually the Ships sister - the Olympic that sank... it was an insurance fraud as the Olympic was un-insurable.... What do you guys think?

The generally accepted view is that Von Papen helped Hitler get to power. BUT would another major theory be that Papen was scared that the Social Democrats and Communists might unite to block Nazism. In 1933, the Nazis had 11.7 million votes, the Social Democrats (SPD) 7.2 million, and the Communists (KPD) around 6 million. Had the SPD and KPD joined against Nazism they would have had control in the Reichstag. So could it just have been Papen was scared of a united left wing coalition? Or is that too far fetched?

Remember I asked this?
''a guy really likes me and he talks to me a lot but doesnt hug/kiss me or anything. He likes talking to me everyday. He tells me things he doesnt tell anyone else.

But he is very flirty and confident around other girls.

He told me himself that he is VERY shy.

Please shed some light on this. Im confused. We are both 24.''

Well I told him!

and his reponse was ''thats very flattering. I thought you just saw me as a guy you speak to in the evening. im kinda innocent in that way - i dont look for people to bother about me''.

But then we carried on talking - but not about US.

What does this mean? *sigh* I made a move - now what?!

I am considering self publishing, or I could go with Vantage Press, or Booksurge (of Amazon). I think it costs $500 for an ISBN, and I am trying to cut costs but I must have an ISBN for my books, and I would like to get at least 40% of the sale value per book; with Booksurge I would not get the 40% but then they would pay for the ISBN number. Or I could just have a Print house produce my book. Any ideas?

It is called a corner of teh universe.

It is about an 11-12 year old girl, who lives in a bording house, then one day she finds out she has an uncle 10 years older than her who is at a school for special need people. It doesnt really say what mental condition he has, all it really says is how he cant control his emotions sometimes. It describes alot the relationship she has with her uncle, who is named adam. It shows how her family sees him as a special need person, but the girl, whose name is Hattie sees him as a friend and a regular person.I am not very far in it, i am on page 68 but so far i think it is very good.

DId anyone read this book? and what did you think of it?

If you did not read it, after my description would you read it?

How do you sing from your chest and not from your throat. I know it's hard to describe verbally and I've done it once, but I think I still sing from my throat, and I know that's very abusive to the vocal cords.

I have a project in English and my partner and I need a book by tomorrow that we're going to read and do a project on. It needs to be something not too long but not too short, I'm thinking between 250-400 pages. It has to be an American author.

Here's what we're going for:
-something humorous, and maybe a little dark
-original and funny
-can be acted out in some way
-very entertaining
-can hold the attention of a 14-year-old boy who is slightly emo and loves dropping the "f" bomb and sexual comments.
-can hold the attention of a 14-year-old girl who loves sarcasm and ironic situations

If you have more than one book in mind, feel free to recommend them all.

Don't worry about a description, I'll look them up on amazon or something.

Thank you :]
