On his way to the gallows, this fiery abolitionist (who was captured by Robert E. Lee) slipped a note to his jailers that prophetically read: "I...am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away; but with Blood." Who is this abolitionist and where was he captured and executed?

Should man always benefit from science, even if the means used to obtain these benefits are questionable? At what point should man ignore questionable means, in favor for the benefit of a useful scientific gain?

For instance, we use terms like "masculinity," "justice" and "goodness," but these terms seem slippery. I also once took a course in the philosophy of art. We never did figure out the essence of art. Some say that art has no essence or that it cannot be define. Granted, somebody can propose a stipulative definition. Nevertheless, how does one define something without begging the question? Someone may suggest that we know what art is by means of the necessary and sufficient conditions that inform it. But those necessary and sufficient conditions seem debatable. Therefore, I believe that we often or always use language without really understanding what we're saying. It is amazing that communication occurs at all. However, communication only appears to occur because of arbitrary community determinations about what word means x or y.

Hello, I was rewinding my camera film (400ASA 35-36frames) according to the instruction booklet of my camera (completely manual Nikon FM10; because I had taken all photos possible); I pinched the rewind button, and started rolling the crank but I accidentally let it loose. I thought it was rewound because I tried to rewind it but it didn't let me, so I assumed it was okay to open the camera back (I was in my bedroom; electric light; at night) and opened it and took the film out including all of it that was NOT REWOUND (it's my first time Rewinding a film, so I didnt even know) and realized that. I rewound it in about less than 2 min. correctly, but I don't know if the photos got spoiled. Do they get spoiled? (They had no fingerprints, no contact with sunlight, no high-low temperatures) I will develop this film soon and I am worried. Did all my photos got ruined because I made a mistake? Even if it was exposed to electric light (lightbulb)??

I need to find three scenes for two women (early 19-23 years old) for a college acting class. The scenes must be part of whole plays so that they can be studied in context. They also can't have any accents. Any experienced theatre students out there who might know the names of some plays that would fit these criteria?

The grade is just for acting them, not finding them, so outside assistance is most welcome. If you don't know any plays that would fit, are there ways to search for this?

I know this sounds really morbid, but...I saw a blurb online recently about this month marking the 30th anniversary of the last execution by guillotine in France, and I got to wondering, why is the blade slanted on a guillotine instead of just a straight edge? Does it have something to do with increased efficiency in decapitating a person?
