My teacher for History is teaching us about Islam. And he gave us this question. I searched the textbook, and I am stumped. How did Christianity, Judaism, and Islam get developed?

Well, they're basically the same religion, using the same book, the old testament, and then diverging after that, based on the ethnic and cultural groups that were in power and used their particular version to meet their particular needs; those needs had mostly to do with power and subjugation.

Not much about any religion is original or inspired. Even the Romans stole theirs from the Greeks. The Christians and Muslims just appropriated from the Jews; then incorporated lots of pagan beliefs to make it more palatable to the common man.

Because they started in the same region. The Ancient Meditteranean (spelling?) or Mesopatamia region encompasses the area in the middle east where Abraham conversed with God in Ur or modern day Iraq, where Muhammad a descent from Abraham's son Ishmael had revelations from God and were later written as the Koran, where Isaac the other son of Abraham was to have the lineage of Jews, then Jesus Christ was born out of Judea or the area where Israel and Palestine are today.
I know this because I'm a religious studies major. But it gets more complex than that. Just know that Judaism comes first, then Christianity then Islam. I would suggest finding a timeline on monotheistic religions. Oh and they all believe in a God.
It's late and i'm hard at explaining but I hope this helps...

Well, Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism, so it is obvious that they would develop in the same place. And Islam has some ties to Christianity, for instance, Jesus is an Islamic prophet and messenger of God.

It is sort of an interesting question, though, I'm not sure there's a straight answer for it, it's a lot of opinion.

Judaism developed into its modern form when the Assyrians failed to conquer Jerusalem around 700 BC (this event is mentioned in the Bible). The Samarians (who comprised 10 out of 12 of the Jewish tribes) were conquered by Assyria and, because they were pagans who also worshipped the God of modern Judaism for the most part, most of them abandoned their faith (however, there are still a few of them left, though their Bible only includes the first 5 books). After the Assyrian Army died outside of Jerusalem around 700 BC (which occurred because the flow of water had been diverted to inside of Jerusalem, causing the Assyrians to drink poisoned water, as the Bible mentions prior to describing this event), the entirety of the Jews accepted that there was only 1 God, as the prophets had been claiming for centuries.

Jesus was a Jew who taught numerous disciples. According to Christianity, he is the son of God and the Jewish Messiah. Jews and Christians worship the same God, even though both disagree in numerous ways. Christianity developed out of Judaism.

The origins of Islam are a little bit harder to understand. However, most of the Middle East, Africa, and Europe were Christian when Muhammad lived and he, as a businessman, would have been familar with their beliefs. He also would have been familiar with the books that didn't make it into the Bible (there are many of them, which are called the apocrypha). For the most part, the Quran repeated what was in those books, but changed the wording around slightly. For example, Moses and Jesus are included in the Quran and the Quran claims that Jesus's mother Mary gave birth to him as a virgin. Islam was basically heavily influenced by Judaism and Christianity as well (especially Christianity).

The three of them developed so close to each other because they influenced each other.

They are just a development of Judaism.
People who followed Christ were originally considered a jewish sect until St. Paul came along and established a separate religion.
Mohammed used various parts of Judaism in his religion such as the dietary laws and mutilation of the genitals of boy babies.

All three claim Abraham as their father.
It was by Abrahams faith that he left his home to father the Jews. Jews are related to Abraham through his son Issac, as are Christians.
Christ existed before Abraham.
Moslims are related through Abraham through his son Ishmael who was born of his servent and was cast out.
Jacob is the son of Issac. God loved Jacob and hated his
brother Esau.

Abraham was also an ancestor of Muhammud.
Islam has no fulfilled prophesy.
God is finished with Israel.
Muslims claim Jesus as a prophet, but they do not recognize him as God Almighty as do Christians.
