THE ***** SPEAKS OF RIVERS

I've known rivers
I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the flow of human blood in human veins.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.

I bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were young.
I build my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep.
I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it.
I heard the singing of the Mississipi when Abe Lincoln went down to New Orleans, and I've seen its muddy bosom turn all golden in the sunset.

I've known rivers:
Ancient, dusky rivers.

My soul has grown deep like the rivers.

I am of the opinion that most people just have an idea in their head of what love is, and they find someone, they don't know if they love them or not but they gotta have somebody, you know? But I believe that real love is a tangible force, and a verb rather than a noun. When you love someone, it means you truly admire them for their looks, personality, sense of humor, etc. You enjoy spending time with someone you love, and you want to be with them as much as you can. If you truly love someone for who they are, it has nothing to do with poetry or wishes or dreams. Real love is easily expressed for you act on what you feel. Love that is only words and romantic dreams is only a fog that will blow away. Want to see how many people are living on ideals and are not really in love? Look at the divorce rate.

If youre wondering what the meaning of your life is.... try imagining the meaning of life as an elephant in the wild.

EAT, SURVIVE, REPRODUCE. and that is all to it.

And us humans have the EXACT same basic purpose in life. The main purpose of life itself is really pretty simple... to survive and to ensure the survival of the species. BUT we have something different that animals do not. We have way superior thinking abilities compared to them. We can DO SO MUCH MORE than just the basics in life... unlike the animals that are still stuck doing exactly what their ancestors are doing. Unlike them... we can build up knowledge from the generations before.

So I think... whoever asks again.. "What Is The Meaning of Life" and feel depressed about it... is just not using their brains to their advantage. Because.. A HUMAN CAN DO SO MUCH MORE THAN AN ANIMAL.

So I guess... the meaning of life for me is to achieve my set goals (other than the basics) and be happy and to live a life of meaning.

Simple question really. If we don't exist, then the observations we make don't have any purpose anyway. If we do exist, then trying to figure this out is only a waste of time and resources otherwise allocatable for other endeavors.

Soldier

As I put my pen doen to this paper
the pain in my mind makes me realize
I have nothing to say. I was
a prisoner, and my captor were
these words unspoken.

Like a bottle of asprin I kept my words
hostage inside me. So many times I wanted to
pull the trigger on myself for not saying goodbye.
I felt so angry that I got the
call to duty. Maybe it because of my wife's beauty.
Or maybe it was my child's innocence.
Either way I was stil a prisoner of
these unspoken I words.

I love you. I miss you. I want you.
These are all the things I wanted to say. But I was
still a prisoner of these words. So I
sip this. smoke this, Sniff this, anything
to keep the pain away from my brain.

sorry
this is only 3/4 of the poem because the rest won't fit. Tell me waht you think about this.

Last month, a federal bankruptcy judge awarded rights to the book “If I Did it” to Fred Goldman’s family to help satisfy a $38 million wrongful death judgment against OJ Simpson. Beaufort, a small New York-based publisher, is reissuing “If I Did It” in October.

I believe that words should not be censored, so I am "ALL FOR" this new book. But at the same time it raises a moral issue.. that OJ Simpson is just laughing about what happened and trying to ca$h in on the whole ordeal. Eventhough it is going to be DISGUSTING, I think it should be published. Freedom of speech!?
Anyway I just wanted to see what you guys think. I might borrow the book and flip through it, but I certainly would never buy it!

What inspired Coleridge to write The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Not too much is written about his inspirations for his writings. Was it because it enjoyed it, becuase he craved knowledge? What turned him on to the poem itself, and why that setting, why the mariner?

What is the wedding guest supposed to represent?
