You can't make it because you don't know how to spell, because you have too much ego and believe things that are not true, because you have no experience, and because you have no confidence. It takes courage to be an actor. Either you have it or you don't. Not so many of the answerers have made it. I have asked at least two of them who claimed to be working actors for their credits and they do not answer me, so they must be lying. It took me 20 from the time I graduated HS until I appeared in a Hollywood movie. All that time I never stopped acting and when my chance finally came, I was well prepared.

If you're not sure you'd like to make a career out of it, there are other ways to explore it before making a huge life change.

My first recommendation would be to take an acting or improv class at a community college. This is a good introduction to what it takes to be an actor and will go over many of the basics: terminology, beginning techniques, learning lines if it's an acting class, different methods and uses of improv if it's an improv class, etc. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find acting classes and improv classes outside the college/community college setting.

Or you could audition for a community theatre production. This is a more involved path because you'll actually be performing in front of people (vs. in front of classmates), but it will definitely give you a feel of what it's like to be an actor.

If you try these out andfind you like it and have an aptitude for it, talk to the people who teach the class or run the community theatre.

But first you have to ask yourself what YOU want to do...not just what your family want's you to do.

But being an Actor is a great career, whether it's on broadway, in films, or if you like making people laugh, you could become a comedian. But you need to get yourself out there and become known, and find a way to build up that confidence

Confidence comes as you go. I used to be in a similar thing that you are. I loved drama, and acting, but I was really shy. I've gradually come out. Take a drama class, or acting techniques class. Get a good teacher, and you just have to gradually get more comfortable with yourself as you practice and get better. Confidence will come. :-) Good luck!!
