As long as they are your photos, and are not copyrighted. IF they are copyrighted, you need to purchase a license to use them. But as you said, you own the rights...they are yours to do with what you please....UNLESS there is a license on the images, or you got them from someplace else....it never hurts to ask the original photographer if it isn't you. :)

Unless your adding funky effects on the text, I would suggest using Adobe Indesign (or Quark Xpress - but ID is better)....the text will print much sharper than if you had the text done in Photoshop....OR if you do do it in PS just save different versions!

Patrick is incorrect, except you certainly signed a settlement giving the different party rights to your photos (do not do this, via the way) you nonetheless own the copyright. in case you signed a settlement beforehand of the shoot (does not sound such as you probably did, undesirable flow) the photos must be seen paintings for hire, wherein case the different party could own them. without a settlement, there is no way the different party can teach paintings for hire. $200 is only too low priced for the interest, via the way... it is nearly a $250 wedding ceremony photographer. the different call for that's "guy with a digicam". yet I digress... touch smugmug today and tell them which photos are yours, and demand they be taken down via copyright infringement. To do something as far as recuperating a threat monies owed, you may fairly prefer the centers of an lawyer. you are able to report in good shape your self, yet you ought to have problems with the little issues like sending a subpoena to smugmug for the revenues data of the photographs.... that style of ingredient.

Edit the photo in Photoshop or a similar image editing package that allows you to use layers. Put the text on a separate layer (which is the default in Photoshop). When you want to use the photo without the text, all you need to do is turn off that layer.

Simple enough. When you save, go under SAVE AS and save the file either in a different folder or under a different name. Yes, you do own the rights, since you are the photographer, but you will also need a release to use them, otherwise you open yourself up to legal issues.
