I would like to have a good part in the local amateur dramatics panto - but I feel that, despite previous reasonable auditions, I am being overlooked - it is very cliquey and the same people tend to get picked year in year out. I think that maybe my weight is putting people off - I'm a couple of stone over. Any ideas for wowing the producer!!

Surely you have much more worse movies and TV than THAT. And they are not even well-written/performed.
Or is it some hate to Nabokov or foreigners in general?

I remember reading a book about 20-25 years ago about a young girl (maybe 10 yrs) that had some sort of special power or ability. She was in a locked facility like maybe a military base with others of her kind. I remember that the kids try (and maybe suceed) breaking out of this place. I want to say the main character's name was Anastasia. I thought it was called "The girl with the silver eyes", but that wasn't it. My daughter read that one and there is nothing about a facility or trying to break out of it.

Does anyone remember this book or can you give me a suggestion of where I can look. I'm sorry I can't remember more about it. My daughter is interested in reading it. Thanks.

Did he ever deviate from that particular style of facial hair? Handlebars perhaps? Or a goatee? What stage of his political career was he at when he first grew it and how important was it in his rise to power? Is it obligatory for evil dictators to grow a moustache or is it the 'tache that turns them to the dark side? Many questions...

In my Fashions class, we chose and are researching 4 cultures, and their traditional clothes. I've decided on Japanese, German, Mexican and Maori (an aboriginal tribe from New Zealand). Yet, as I attempt to research it, all I find is mostly the actual culture. Nothing explains why they wore what they did. Does someone have some insight they can share, or some directions to try?

Thank you!

There are times you just have to laugh. I'm proofreading like mad, and I left an extra four lines in the first version. Thank you Scotty for pointing it out, and for the other helpful comments. If I'm going to call it a sonnet it should have 14 lines.

This is my second sonnet so any suggestions or comments are welcome. Thank you.

When We’re Together

We live with these complex redundancies,
What we touch we hurry to touch again.
We overlook these inconsistencies,
What we feel we struggle to still contain.
For in these moments something new remains,
The sky still shatters, stars fall raining down,
Rivulets mark the night with sweet refrains,
We melt into each other start to drown.
Yet do I truly end and you begin?
Each nudge ignites the tinder, smoke does wreathe.
It seems as though we’re trapped within this skin
For if I pull away will I still breathe.
To separate brings such a heavy toll
When we are torn apart so less than whole.

I saw a comedy show last night and the guy said he had figured out how to have peace in the middle east. I'm not into drugs but I did think it was pretty funny and probably true. His idea was to just pass out joints to all of them and they would forget why they even got on the bus to blow it up, or that they were even fighting for that matter. They would just all be happy. What do you think, lol. Good idea?

These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I Have Said unto you.
Matthew 7:21-24
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works ? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and DOETH them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

How did you found out that he wasn't real. After your parents told you to believe in him all these years.

I was 21 years old, last year, when I start reading up that he wasn't real. When I ask my parents. My parents kept telling that what people was saying was lies, and that he is real. Then I ask why don't he come down here and guide us through life And If he don't I will end my life and go to heaven. After I said that, then my parents start telling me the truth

How old were you when you stop believing that there is a God?

Well I rarely write in traditional forms. I saw a question last night asking for help on a love sonnet, and I realized that I'd never written one before. Here is my first attempt. I think it's my second sonnet overall. Comments? Suggestions?

When We’re Together

We live with these subtle redundancies,
What we touch we hurry to touch again.
We overlook these inconsistencies,
What we feel we struggle to still contain.
The days have not diminished us at all
Left with a craving barely satisfied,
Drives us to our knees as we do crawl,
Each taste and tremble fully codified.
Yet in these moments something new remains,
The sky still shatters stars fall raining down,
Rivulets mark the night with sweet refrains,
We melt into each other start to drown.
For do I truly end and you begin?
Each nudge ignites the tinder, smoke does wreathe.
It seems as though we’re trapped within this skin
For if I pull away will I still breathe.
To separate brings such a heavy toll
When we are torn apart so less than whole.
