The darkest hour comes before dawn and right now our world enters the darkest hour.
Social structure will continue disintegrating, ethical values will diminish under the pressure of survival requirements, environmental conditions will worsen.
Change has to come from within each and every one of us; for as long as we don’t personally experience the full effects of our own negligence and the misery of others is just an indifferent picture on the screen of our tv sets we feel there is no reason for alarm.
But all these conditions must take place before a global spiritual awakening takes place.
So, yes I’m optimistic; a greater good will come out and a new reality will emerge from the ruins of the old world.

I read through the pages of history and see that each era has things that were overwhelming to someone. Sometimes a huge portion of the world was at war, sometimes certain countries were the only ones effected. Regardless of the time there was always something to make the world seem bleak - the best part is that the human spirit rebounds and overcomes all these obstacles and still manages to have hope.
I may not feel extremely optimistic about the way things are going in much of the world today, but I feel more optimistic when I witness random acts of kindness and other deeds that show that there is much good still in the world and that hope still resounds.

I hate being pessimistic, but find it difficult to be optimistic about the world situation.

Not really.

With Western leaders looking for a replacement for the "Big Bad Bear" now Communism has gone so that they can have something to give people nightmares about, I wonder which country they will choose next. With fundamentalists on both sides of the war against terrorism, it is a recipe for disaster.

For me, the whole scenario at the moment is like a shepherd going on holiday and leaving a pair of wolves to guard the flock.

If you're a realist, you can't help but see that the sky grows darker as we head into the final showdown and the nations take sides one more time.
