I agree with 'actormyk' .....be magnanimous, rise above all the competitors & the cliques. Let your personnality be as big as you are & be both proud & bold, without being arrogant in any way. Just try to pretend your in your bathroom (my favourite place when I was young for the accoustics) and sing & dance your heart out as though no-one else is there!
It's not the size of your waist they'll be looking at, they'll be too busy being 'wowed' by your warm giant personnality & love of the theatrics & life. Let your talent flow, your eyes sparkle, your mouth wide & your face full of expression & warmth. Let all your passion flow, then with the little energy you have left, calmly move towards them & thank them for allowing you to have SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Kind Regards, Good Luck & my best Angels go with You!

Perhaps you should move on to a different community theatre.
Ever volunteer to work backstage? Often being a dependable production assistant of some kind willl raise your stock with the producer. You do have to look the part, of course. All casting is done first by look and then by talent. If you do not fulfill the producer's vision of the role physcially, it will make no difference how well you read. Make sure you are auditioning for roles you could reasonably expect to be cast in (and be honest about it--the hardest thing is for an actor to see herself as the producer sees her.) Other than all the above, you might go on a diet, get a personal trainer and a make-over and knock their eyes out! Best wishes, Doc

Take the whole idea of your weight out of your mind. If it's not an issue for you, it's not an issue.
Having been on both sides of the audition table, the best tip I can give you (corny as it may sound) is to have fun! If you're enjoying the audition that will wow the producer/director. Most people dread auditions (and it shows), so that alone will make you stand out.
Break a leg & have fun!!!

I asked a professional actor something like this same question back before I acted professionally and what she said has always stuck with me, and it all has to do with attitude. Without being cocky, you need to go into the audition with the attitude that if you don't get in this play, there's another one auditioning sometime soon that you WILL get in and then it'll be their loss. Be prepared, do your best, don't try to play head games with the other actors, and just relax and have a good time. After a grueling audition that seemed to go on for hours, (singing, dancing, improv, more tap dancing, more improv, more singing, etc.) I went up to the director and thanked him and told him I had a good time; whether I was cast or not, I still had a good time at his audition. The show was Dames At Sea which is a small cast with no chorus but he liked me so much that he added me as a chorus/dancer/extra voice. Oh, and the professional actor who told me to relax is Lillias White, who at the time was just doing the role of Dorothy in a road show of The Wiz but now has a couple of Tonys on her shelf!

the important thing is to make yourself familiar with the judge. No who the person is, and, if possible, try to meet them. Also, you need to relax. if u don't, ur nerves will overcome u. Good Luck.
