I'm going to school for theatre this year, and I've been asked to prepare a monologue for the first day. I have it memorized, but the character I'm playing is 68 years old. I'm only 16, and I want to know if there's a way to put on a voice without taking away from the dramatic essence of the monologue. I have a feeling that me doing an old man's voice would make it seem funny, when it really has a deep feeling.... I like the way I've been doing it, in my own voice, but I'd really like to be in character all the way.

Also, there's nothing really in the monologue that suggests the character's age, so if I did take a certain stance or voice, it might appear to be comedic.... T

Thanks

We're having a bit of a conflict in our family. One of us thinks that Jefferson Davis was first, and Washington came directly after. The other is convinced that Jefferson Davis opposed Lincoln in the Civil War. Who is correct?

I'm soft-spoken, and many people have commented on it and the fact that I talk quietly. Some say they could never picture me raising my voice or ever yelling, that I would never hurt a fly. How come when I talk normally, my volume sounds fine to me? What are the distinctions of someone who is soft-spoken and how come I don't recognize it in myself? Is it in the eye of the beholder?

I have finally reached the last five or six chapters of my first novel, and I have a good idea for them. The problem is, is that three of the main (sort of main) characters will die. Since I am planning on making it into a trilogy, I need opinions on whether this is a good idea (the reader will want to know what happens next) or a very bad idea (the reader will decide not to finish the trilogy because three important characters died in the first book, and in a mere couple of chapters). It's a fantasy book about a great war, if that helps at all. Thank you!

It's a children's book, and I think it may have been part of a series - there was a family of giant dolls that were alive. I can't remember any character names, but I remember one of the boys in the family was blue.

When it comes to romance novels, would you like first edition novels to collect or the cheaper in price the better?

What I am asking is if you like the author of a romance novel and / or the story, would you be willing to collect that persons novels? Or is that something that you wouldn't collect?

I'm Iranian and I reach the Prophet Muhammad from my father through his daughter (his sons did not survive childhood) The name for us is "Seyyed" which kinda means "Sir" or "Lord". My father's mother has a family-tree that goes to his grandson. But the only record I know of from my father's father is that (this is confusing, please try keep track) the only record is that my grandfather's grandfather used to sign his name as "Seyyed" and that is about 200 years ago. How can I be sure?

Also, is there a website or book or place where you can check your ancestry if you are Iranian?
