Sometimes I'd rather be ignorant because it's easier to be happy when you don't know how ugly things really are. That's living in a dream world, I guess, but sometimes that just seems more appealing. That said, if it's something about me - how someone really feels about me - I want to know that, even if it's painful.

My philosophy is as follows: If ignorance is bliss, then why isn't everyone happy?

I think you focused on the opposite end of the issue. there is no need to feel hurt, no matter the knowledge.

If thinking about X causes hurt, we can also consider why we would cause ourselves to feel that way by thinking those thoughts.

no ignorance is not bliss. i just found out i have thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed last friday. hurts like hell but im cancer free so far.
