You are confusing the personality of a person with the mannerisms of a person. Usually quiet and serene people do not become go-getters but they are very capable of taking care of themselves without being first in line or being first at the polls. You will find their poetry and paintings and sculptures all over this world. People that look for handouts usually have no intention of working for a living. People that look for handouts are not people that come into hard luck and lose their job and need assistance for awhile. Usually people that have that problem wait until they are practically starving to death before they ever go get assistance. People that want handouts are basically the people that want something for nothing and they will stoop as low as they can or conive and scheme or even lie and cheat to get it. They are the kids that steal from someone's lunch box when they aren't looking or take money that they see on the table, knowing that it doesn't belong to them. They are the adults that will park in a handicap space or cut in a line by sparking up a conversaion with someone closer to the front so that they don't have to remain at the back of it. They are the drivers that will drive down the shoulder so that they don't have to sit in a traffic jam. People that look for handouts usually have no care about the feelings of others and they don't think much of themselves either. Yes it is wrong to be that way.

wow, there a WHOLE LOT of space between those 2 extremes like one of the other posters pointed out before me.

I think each human being has a uniquely different personality, a whole history of experiences, unresolved issues, scars, character developments, etc. and each of us operates accordingly in life in equally varied ways.

Not being one thing, does not automatically mean you are another thing at all considering how many lives there are in this world.

As to your question about is it wrong to look for handouts well, it would be wrong for me because it's against my own nature. I have a very strong work ethic. So while I certainly wouldn't mind a helping hand, I'd be working my **** off while I was accepting the helping hand not seeking a freebie handout.

A person who is a go getter is normally an aggressive type personality, taking the initative to get teh job done. This is the top end of the scale. At the bottom is the ones who look for hand outs, for some one else to do the job. In between there are lots of others, that are dedicated workers and do a fine job. Perhaps it is a case they are content with their lot, or are happy where they are and wish no promotion. It is not as balck and white as you are either one or the other.

No! Not being a go-getter simply means your are standing in the middle of the line. Are you okay with that? It is up to you.

no it doesnt, because if one otomaticly looks for hand outs then they are a go-getter too, just in a different wat

and for the seccond part, sure hand outs are good, but they will never be as meaningful as something you earned

No, it just means that you're not the type to lunge out there and get what you really want. You're more passive. You'll take what you can attain with more ease and maybe, occasionally what's given to you. I think it's kind of like taking the road of least resistance.
