You can, there is no reason to fantasy this. Beliefs can be "let go of" just as anything else can. Maintaining beliefs and false beliefs is truly a source of emotional suffering for many.
Personally, I find knowledge valuable, so long as I am willing to check in on my own biases. Things that we would rather not know comes from a judgment about the information or knowledge.
Many people live delusional lives refusing to live with reality. Any reality that is unpleasant can be altered by changing one's perspective.
So, nothing.

This seems like a small thing...but...I've had a weight problem for some time. I'm not obese or anything - but I've never been happy with my body, and I've struggled with it for years. I also have a friend who is obese, and his life has been very hard. He's tried all kinds of things but hasn't been successful...and he's a decent, kind person. I've been reading comments on here - one question, in particular, really bothered me. The woman asked if others didn't also hate people who were obese and overweight? She found them repulsive. Most people commented that she was being unkind, but there were a few who agreed with her. I feel bad knowing that there are people like this in the world and that this type of prejudice exists. It shouldn't surprise me, I guess - people dislike others for their race, religious beliefs, ethnic group, language, politics, etc. I just have been naive enough to believe that things were getting better - and they aren't.

"Pre-judice" in its very literal sense. Pre-concluded, obstinate thoughts, dissallowing an open mind to look deeper for truth.
