I know I have some indian in my ancestry, probably from WVA and LA (New Orleans). I can find the tribes from that area, but what must be the percentage of authenticity, like to claim "Native American" for jobs, benefits, educational grants, US Cencus, etc.?

Things like "does god exist?" are ridiculous questions, because that is not the question a philosophic minded person would ask. Maybe a teenage confused atheist would, but not someone who has a handle on metaphysics, cosmology or ethics.

Heres a better question - is the idea of the metaphysic realm a credible one?

For example, truth. How can one have a false perception of something that is true?

Over the last week I've probably read 20 books (alright- 10) and I've exhausted the Library on books I know are good.

My Favorite books: (excluding the broader subjects, I have all read the entire selection of these in the Library- most recently)
The Sevenwater's Trilogy
The Otori Trilogy (er- I guess it is a quartet now)
Anything by Orson Scott Card (I like his stuff so much my dad has forbidden me to check out his books- yeah right)
Les Miserables
Eragon
Some Non-fiction (relgious books, philosophy books, self-help books, ext.)
Terry Brooks is Ok
Alanna's serries is ok, but a bit simple
I'm trying to mentally walk through the library- and it isn't working. Alright- I know this seems very fantasy focused- but I don't want books that are just that. I love books with an underlying love plot- but that it isn't the plot of the book. I hate too-happy of endings (like Harry Potter- He was suposed to AHHH! *I'm sure anyone reading this has either read it or doesn't care*)

My little sister is going into the fifth grade and has to choose an instrument. She wants to go into band so she can play the drums next year, but has to pick a woodwind instrument this year to start off. Which one do you think is the easiest to learn, or what are your suggestions?

If you had never experienced something 'bad' in life, would you know that something is 'good', without 'bad' to compare it against. If everything was good, maybe things that are excellent would be 'good', and things that are 'OK' would be 'bad'. Maybe what we think is bad today is actually 'OK', and just a comparative reference for 'good'.

I've got a candle lit, lighting a ciggy off it... tuned into radio Paris (je ne suis pas le français mais j'aime simplement l'accent, je ne peux pas comprendre trop bon non plus). I can't sleep, I'm laid on top of the sheets cos it's clammy. There's a cold glass of milk on the cabinet and QA is where I'm at...trying to help folk along lifes journey.... My kitten is curled by my feet and the clock on the wall echoes in the silence. In the back of my mind, life's streaming video plays...memories of what used to be....... somewhere, out there, the dawn is heralding a new day, in other places the night is creeping in....and in every lonely apartment, my thoughts are with likeminded hearts, trying to see through their eyes...at the end of my day...the world seems to be still buzzing in the fast lane... I wanna talk, yet she doesnt, I wanna just sleep and hope its all a dream, but its not... I want to write and talk more but I'm running out of space......have a good day everyone. J.J U.K

My hair must be just so,
Clothes, just check the tags,
My reputations everything,
I cant be seen in rags.

Perfection, look no further,
This is why I reign,
Queen bee of my little hive,
All ruled by one brain.

I do not see the way I act,
Speaks of what's ahead,
Ripples turning into waves,
For karma must be fed.

Power can be toxic,
Especially in a clique,
When you're hurting out of pleasure,
Preying on the meek.

Superficial measurements,
Don't speak of what is real,
Unless of course you look inside,
At weakness you conceal.

Yes it's nice to be admired,
Or be part of the pack,
But poplar's not pretty,
When it stabs you in the back.

I just finished reading "The Moon is Down" by John Steinback. His writing is amazing and as I analyze through the book "the flies have conquered the flypaper" catches me. I searched it online and reporters from newspapers talk about Iraq and what not. But what does the phrase really mean?

Thanks!

In the article "First tentative steps," Rodney Brooks is quoted as saying, "My belief is that we, people, are machines. So in principle, I see no reason why we can't build a robot that is as capable as a human being." Compare that statement with the two remaining articles, other readings you have done, and your own views. Discuss your position relative to the possibility of machines becoming equal to humans.
