While at the dentist office on the gas, listening to History Channel, there were TRUE accounts being examined of "Count"? Dracule.?)...aka Vlad the impaler. Great history stuff. I heard it said, that the Pope commissioned him to fight in the Crusades. Vlad had a keep built, and those not worthy to fight in battle are the ones he impaled. When a highly respected Nobleman complained of the odor, he used and extra long stick, to impale him above the rest and proclaimed, "You are above the odor now" something like that. Anyway, was he commisioned by the "Pope" to fight the "protestants" in the crusades. Also something about the commision written blood, at his birth. I could research web, but I want avatar knowledge. I ask here in this forum. for some facts. Your answers are greatly appreciated. and hopefully interesting! Time frame? 15?? any specific documented battles I can research? how is wife died? and about the "Pope". this is not a religous question, a "history" one!

I need to buy a full set of acoustic strings for my Washburn. This is the first time I have ever needed to buy them (as I am pretty new to the guitar scene). Do I need to look for anything special or can I just walk in to a music store and grab a set of strings? Also roughly, about how much do they run in price? Thanks in advance!

Please sort fantasy authors in descending order of how well you like their stories. Here are some suggestions, in no particular order.

R. Scott Bakker (Prince of Nothing)
Raymond E. Feist (Midkemia)
Robin Hobb (Six Duchies & Bingtown)
Katharine Kerr (Deverry)
George R.R. Martin (Song of Ice and Fire)
J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings)
Jack Vance (Lyonesse)

Feel free to "write in" favorite authors, but give the title of the series or book(s) that persuaded you that he/she is a truly Great Writer whose work deserves to be Remembered For All Time.

After that, please identify authors whose stories are pretty decent and worth reading, but not quite good enough to rank among the very best.

A friend of mine recently got to thinking about the world and simply wrote this:

"It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

So, you do not exist."

Is this true? And if so, what does it mean about us? About our friends? Family? What are your opinions on this?

It's happened to us all, we are busily working to blend something and notice a brush hair has come off on our painting. Its so hard to pick it off and not leave a pit in the paint, or if we brush at it, we get an effect that we don't want. So what is the best way to remove a hair, or lint from a wet painting without creating trouble?
