it is a fact because my friend worked at that show and it was orginally called a state that made more sense but oklahoma was the only state that fit the song .

Not true. It was based on a play called "Green Grow the Lilacs", which was set in Oklahoma Territory.

It was, in the writing phase, called Away We Go!

It was based on a play called "Green Grow The Lilacs" by Lyn Riggs.

The songs were written to fit the idea of the play, not vice-versa

No other state but Oklahoma was even considered.
