During the quarter-century after 1948, Western Europe recorded its highest economic growth ever, due to the influx of money, food, and other aid given to Europe to rebuild after the war. Yet this has been forgotten by most Europeans today in their rush to condemn Americans for their culture among other things. After all, everyone knows that Americans are greedy. The US gave billions to European aid and rebuilding efforts in the 1940s and 50s. Would Europe being doing as well as it is now?

Think about it. There much be one event that is the defining moment for the past and the present. The creation of the world, in whatever way you believe it to have happened, is the obvious answer. But there is sure to be another moment we can look at and say, "This is why we are what we are!" What do you think is the answer?

What cartoon is it that has like a big guy or animal or something that sounds kind of mentally ill and says stuff like "Where we going, George?" He likes to pet, squeeze, and hold soft things. And he's directly taken from Lennie's character in "Of Mice and Men." Anyone know? I was just wondering because we were talking about it today in English and I don't remember what it was. Thanks.
