Can someone tell me the name of this poem and the author's name? thanks

"Why dois your brand sea drap wi bluid, Edward, Edward, Why dois your brand sea drap wi bluid. And why sea sad gang yee O?"
"O I hae killed my hauke sae guid, And I had nea mair but hee O."
"Your haukis bluid was nevir sae red, My dear son I tell thee O."
"O I hae killed my reid roan steid, Mither, mither, I hae killed my reid roan steid, That erst was so fair and free O."

The title depends on where you look it up. "Edward" is what I have found. It is very old and the author of it is now anonymous. You can find many similar poems including "Lord Randal, my son." You might want to look in English and Scottish Popular Ballads by Francis James Child.

'Twas written by Thomas Percy. And it's "Why dois your brand sae (not "sea") drap wi bluid". Brand is a sword. "sae" means "so". Why is your sword so bloody? is the question.

It's called "Edward, Edward"

It's probably titled "Edward" and it's anybody's guess who actually "wrote" these old ballads...just no way to know. Thomas Percy compiled them, (collected and printed them) but he didn't write them.
