Why is it that what's written in textbooks is taken as fact?
So much of what i learned in H.S has been dismissed as complete lies, and or huge omissions of the truth.
If the truth is known, why are our children still being taught lies?

I have been trying to finish "The Pilgrimage" for months now. I have no doubt that the message is profound and will bring me enlightenment in many ways, but I find Coelho's style very boring and can't bring myself to read more than a couple of chapters a day. I have finished two other novels (a Murakami and Amy Tan) in between reading this book which I find more interesting. What do you think?

Proper names are supposed to be capitalized -- like Steve, Kate, Mars, etc. Yet almost NO ONE ever capitalizes Earth. When you write 'How on Earth...?' you are talking about a place, like London or Rome. Shouldn't it be capitalized?

Supposing that all time is one point. All future and past is here and now. When an action in past or future occurs, it sends out 'ripples' of energy in the 'moment' that can be felt. How fast does that energy travel before it is felt in that 'moment'? Remember time is relegated to gravity and of course speed.

I will extend this question to the most unquestioned norms of society: murder, rape, polygamy, heroine usage, etc... I agree that these are things that many of us feel uncomfortable with and do not like. But just because someone else likes them and you dont, does that make that person wrong and crazy? Can't I like mushrooms and you don't, without me being crazy? Cant we just agree to disagree?

I need advice on the best and cheapest way to ship a kind of large painting, (about 24"X30"X1"). Anyone have any experience with doing this? Anything I should avoid? Is using the USPS O.K. or should I spend more and use FedEx or UPS?

I'm writing a paper on Civil War, and I need an introduction... I really don't know what to say. I have to have 4 "chapters". This is how I organized it:
1. Introduction
2. Causes and Background of the War
3. The War
4. Results of the War.
I wrote everything except for the intro... I need just a couple of sentences...

If life is "not all about me," which implies it's not "all about you," either, then why does no one I've ever met actually "show" that it's "all about us" in their day-today existence?
Even the most wisest person on the planet acted "selfish" more than a few times.
Is this not "hypocritical?"

Give it your best shot; here's mine...

Kim Lee

I once knew a feller called Kim Lee,
He was an expert at Karate.
Got killed in a fight
Not 'cause he was shite,
But bullets were faster than he.
