As they say, "With age comes wisdom". We no longer are so quick to jump off the edge, we take more into account and realize that we are not 10 feet tall and bullettproof like we once thought when we young. Life teaches you that emotions are not always a good thing. At work, you want to be known as strong and fearless, not a sobbing over-emotional baby. In a relationship, the more you open up with your feelings the more you can get hurt in the end. People start realizing that as they age and so they start holding back their true feelings. Notice it is always the 13 and 14 year olds that say they are in love after a week of dating? Even if a 20 year thought they were in love, they wouldn't admit it for fear of letting too much out for quite a while. It is not necessarily lost, just hidden better. Which, can be bad, but a lot of the times, it is good. I know i dont want to go to the grocery store and see some 30 year old throwing a temper tantrum because they cant get a candy bar.

I don't think anything happens with us and our views. I think if people really do get conservative as they are older it's because they've experienced life more and are aware of it's downfalls. I also think though that not everyone gets more conservative, it just seems that way because younger generations continually change and older people stick with what they've always believed in, which during the younger years may have actually been liberl, but more liberal things came about to make their less liberal views seem conservative.

I know a lot of your probably aren't into country music, but I have a great song for the person asking this question. I mean, it fits it to a tee.
Roy Clarke's 'Yesterday When I Was Young."
For all of you young people out there, it will certainly make you stop and think and take your young life a little more seriously. No, that that you're throwing it away, but maybe just let you slow down a little bit.
Listen to the song...

I don't really agree with you. I was extremely shy as a child and the older I get the more I come out of my shell. Even when it comes to religion and politics I am far more open minded and liberal in my thoughts and practises now than when I was younger.

We realize that it's not as easy as it seams to love everybody, and be as irresponsible as it is when we are young. When you get older, YOU are the caregiver, and you know what it was to BE a child, so you want to be a good example for your children.

the same reason time gets shorter as you get older, when you are young everything is new when your older you have been through much more so things aren't as fascinating or funny or sad because the older you get the more likely you are to have been through that situation already. hope this helps

I don't think that we become more conservative, we become wiser, and we learn how to discern what really and truly deserves an intense, emotional response and what doesn't.

children are naive, free-spirited and oblivious to what their "image" portrays.some older people are too worried about what people think and take themselves too seriously sometimes, so it's difficult to express their emotions.being a kid was so fun.i didn't care about how i looked or how i dressed or the impression that i gave people or whatnot.i wasn't easily embarrassed.i didn't have the attention span to care about those things.it was a different kind of worry-free happiness:)

Some folks might do that - we don't.
We have no problem with tasteful displays of affection or just displaying honest emotions at any other time.
