I am ten years old. My book takes place in the 1840s. It's about a twelve-year-old boy named Evan Jacobson. His uncle is sick and he's going to take care of him. Evan lives in New York and his uncle lives in England. The steamboat either catches on fire because of a boiler or because of a big storm. How do you like the idea?? Do you have any title ideas?

Hey there friends. :)

Just wondering, what is your favourite all-time novel?

Mine happens to be "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.
I'd like to read some more interesting literature.

One thing I will never read though, is Robinson Crusoe. I choose a lexicon over THAT.

I personally don't think it is but I have to quote other people's opinions in my coursework.

'Is 'A Farewell to Arms more of a glorification or condemnation of war?'

Please help - you may get quoted in my coursework! (with credit in the bibilography, of course) *ooh, exciting*

As far as I know, Blaise Pascal once said something like that:

"Humans are nothing...great are only those who realize their nothing"-

But I can't agree to that. We, humans are great, in so many things we do...the buildings we make, the love we feel, the art we create...but regardless we die?

What do you think?

Thinking to himself you cant have her

Some friends and I were talking about characteristic traits of different origins, (ie, red hair/Irish, etc) and someone told me that I looked Macedonian. I was under the impression that Macedonians would be similar to Greeks- dark skin, hair, and eyes. But I have fair skin, blue eyes, and reddish-brown hair. Do I looked "Macedonian"?

I can't do : To his Coy Mistress, My Last Duchess, The Road Not Taken, because I have already studied them in class. I'm looking for published poets only, I can't do a project on poems you have written (unfortunately). Please help. (:

My husband is serving overseas at the moment and my daughter and I would like to send him some professional photos of us.
I've booked a session for a couple of weeks time but would like to go there armed with some (non-cheesy!) poses. Can anyone suggest a website for me to look at? It'd save me trawling through all the glossy mags!
Thanks in advance!

How can the book "Gist of Golf" by Harry Vardon cost 4 dollars at one place, and 200 at another? They are the same publishers, and it is the same book. I just bought it for 4 dollars from Biblio used, and Amazon has it listed for 199 used. How can this be?

I have to add it in sections, so if you click and it isnt all there, just refresh or something:

George Whipley awoke from a deep sleep to find that he had no messages on his answering machine. He never had any messages. He was used to it. However, he had grown to despise the pretentious voice of that woman who informed him day after day that he had no messages. He perceived her shrill tone as being one of blatant mockery and contempt. He thought if he ever met her, he would have to kill her. He would have no choice, he thought: ‘She had to die.’ He stared at himself in the full-length mirror just adjacent to his bed. He had grown to hate the man he had become. He had been ravaged by a life of stress, late nights, and cheap domestic beer.
He had had one of his most favorite and most frequent dreams that night. In it, a group of scantily clad slave-girls tended to his every need, be it a glass of milk, or a quickie on the kitchen counter; there was no deed too demeaning, too
