Hey there friends. :)

Just wondering, what is your favourite all-time novel?

Mine happens to be "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.
I'd like to read some more interesting literature.

One thing I will never read though, is Robinson Crusoe. I choose a lexicon over THAT.

To kill a mockingbird was a great read. I think if I hadnt been forced to read it in high school id love it even more...I hate the schools english system. Anyways. I also have been reading the classics lately, currently its " The count of monte cristo" which is amazing. Dumas has made me cry 2wice already and im not even half way through his 1000 pages. The catcher in the rye hasn't been mentioned! Thats a crying shame. East of Eden, oh man. This was Steinbecks last breathe. I loved every sentence, every verse, every page and every chapter. If you havent read it, READ IT. But im not gonna say that its my fav, cuz i still have many more to read. I still havent read anything from Heminway or Tolstoy, Dickens or Faulkner. ( I know I know, Im a horrible person) Anyways im off to fire up stome crack and stay up for the next 48 hours reading senior Dumas' works.

NOT! hahahaha

hmmmm......choices choices

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou. I also really like Animal Farm, by George Orwell. Man Child In The Promised Land, by Claude Brown, is a favorite as well.

Mine is also "To Kill A Mockingbird" - I even have an autographed copy!
Then:
"Lorna Doone" by R. D. Blackmore
"Silas Marner" by George Elliot
Anything by Louisa Mae Alcott
Anything by Mark Twain
Almost anything by Charles Dickens - my favorites are "Oliver Twist", "A Tale of Two Cities" and "David Copperfield"

Jane Eyre is my favorite classic old novel. I read it in fifth grade and it had a tremendous impact on me at that time and even later when I reread it as an adult. It is a GREAT love story, you will not be disappointed if you try it!

Mockingbird is my fave of older lit, also--EXCELLENT characters!
East of Eden by John Steinbeck is a great story too--all of his stuff is very readable!
Little Women is a very good book. Don't bother with any Charles Dickens--he is windy & wordy! Same for Hemingway.

A highly rated novel, a classic, is Slaughterhouse
Five. I couldn't through that one, but "Breakfast
Of Champions" was great. Satire.
Kurt Vonnegut.

The most incredible Classic I've ever read is Homer's "Iliad" (in the translation by Robert Fagles). It is astonishing in its epic sweep and grandeur, far beyond anything else I've ever read.
