Some friends and I were talking about characteristic traits of different origins, (ie, red hair/Irish, etc) and someone told me that I looked Macedonian. I was under the impression that Macedonians would be similar to Greeks- dark skin, hair, and eyes. But I have fair skin, blue eyes, and reddish-brown hair. Do I looked "Macedonian"?

You sound more European, i.e. Scots-Irish or English to me. But is you really want to know and you have the money get your DNA tested. My husband was lucky enough to have it done for free while a student a Johns Hopkins. He was sure it would come back Scottish but it came back that his DNA was strongly Scandanavian! Then when he looked at his family you see how they came from there to Scotland and Ireland to England and over to the US.

Something many don't think of are those early nordic traders gone a-viking. Not all that sailed those square-masters were seafaring. They also had a tradition of much smaller ships (not that the seagoing ones were large by any standard today) they'd even portage down rivers, trading clear down into the Black sea.

But back to the seafaring Viking bunch yes they sailed into the Mediterranean & up into the Adriatic & Aegean. At one point in history they were favored by Byzantine rulers. Will that work?

Macedonia was a very big area and went all the way up through Albania and the former Yugoslavia. They are seriously dark-eyed and dark-haired. Think of Gorin Visnic from ER, who is a Macedonian.

If you look like anyone from that region, you'd look more like an Austrian. That's where the lighter skin, blue eyes and red hair would be much more common (consider Marie Antoinette).

You are correct. Macedonia is the north west part of Greece. Native Greeks have dark, olive skin and shiny black hair.
I would say you do not look Macedonian.
