My husband is serving overseas at the moment and my daughter and I would like to send him some professional photos of us.
I've booked a session for a couple of weeks time but would like to go there armed with some (non-cheesy!) poses. Can anyone suggest a website for me to look at? It'd save me trawling through all the glossy mags!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your replies, obviously a smile goes without saying but I'm glad you got your 2 points anyway.
There is nothing wrong with our own home photos and I certainly don't think they're cheesy. What I meant was, when we have the professional photos done I would like to have a choice of natural, fun poses rather than the usual cheesy portraits they offer you.
We have hundreds of home taken photos, of which my hubby has plenty, I have chosen to have some professional ones taken as I know he'll be delighted with them.

They should give you some ideas. I came across all of them while looking for some pose ideas myself so I can photograph my nieces.
Happy Hunting!

Ok, let me ask you this.... Why do you care if someone thinks your home taken photos are cheesy? It may be cheesy to others, but beautiful as a picture to you...and him I will bet.
Is there something wrong with just being you?
Personally, for me, the most fun pictures are the ones that will make great memories, something that will evoke a smile and 'Hey, remember when we did THIS?', or 'Remember us doing THIS?' and make him rememeber what he has waiting that he wants to live for,and come home to.
I was hospitalized for months having brain surgeries every few days back in the '80s due to a rare brain tumor, and the pictures they brought in helped me a LOT.
What were the photos? Of the house, of our cats, of LIFE. No poses, no 'glitz and glamour' just home...
And if I had a choice then, that's all I would have wanted, pictures of home, and life...not professional photos that have no meaning.
Take pictures of your home, of the scenery, of friends, remind him of the life he will come home to. Most of all, take pictures of you and your daughter AS YOU ARE, and as he knows you.
He will probably love those pictures more than anything you have taken by someone else. I know it meant a lot to me.

Formal portraiture is classic and timeless when done correctly. There are certain poses that photographers use in formal work, there is a reason for that.
Maybe you could find a photographer specializing in informal, environmental portraits instead of studio work,
