I remember back in art class there was this black porus material (a bit like lava rock but crunchier and easily cut) that you could easily carve into statues etc. and smelled like rotten eggs. What is this material called? It came in square blocks and looked like sponge. And where is a good site to purchase some?

i've always wanted to have a career in acting ever since i was little, but because of one thing or another i've never been able to go for it. I'm now 26 and worry that if i take a 3 year acting course, by the time i've finished i'll be nearing 30 and that it will be too late.

Isnt the moon fascinating. Look at it right now, I can see it too, but still I'm probably thousands of miles far away from you. It shines for everyone everywhere and it have done for generations. Can't we find some kind of solidarity by it ? When I miss someone I can look at it and think " yes he/she sees the same". It's like an unforgettable sign or something. Still it just sits there and shines alone, not thinking, not worry. I think we should be more like it, peaceful, timeless. I know this was a weird question, but still there is a need of them to. What do you think about when you look at the moon ? Maybe you think like "nothing" , but hey thats still a thought :)

I admire Confucius and am currently reading the Analects but in my research of this famous philosopher I have come across some of his sayings on women and I must say that I don't agree with them, I know that it's not a religion or anything so I don't have to agree with everything in Confucianism but I would like to hear how Confucianists feel about this. Men and women's views are welcome but especially women. Are there any women Confucianists?

I am a book fanatic so naturally I would come to the B & A forum to help some people or just to see some new titles. And don't get me wrong, I love the Harry Potter series, but I am so tired of coming in here because it seems to be overrun with Harry Potter questions! Is anyone else tired of seeing this or am I just being insensitive?

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan, for those of you arts people who don't know, they are an professional American football team in the NFL. We just hired a new head coach named Wade Phillips and I was doing some research on him and I found out his daughter is a burlesque dancers, Tracy Phillips. First what is burlesque? Is it 1920s stripping? And is she a well know dancer? I hope I don’t offend anybody thinking it is like stripping. I'm sorry I'm not in to arts. Thought I'm learning to like art by taking a film and motion picture class in college. I now enjoying film and learning of actors from the 30s 40s and 50s.

hello can anyone help me decipher this poem from Richard Siken's book "Crush" ?
I am having difficulty deciphering the meaning of it.
Thanks!

There are so many things I'm not allowed to tell you
I touch myself, i dream.
Wearing your clothes or standing in the shower for over an hour, pretending
that this skin is your skin, these hands your hands,
these shins, these soapy flanks.
The musicians start the overture while i hide behind the microphone, trying to match the dubbing
to the big lips shining down from the screen.
We're filming the movie called "Planet of Love" -
there's sex of course, and ballroom dancing, fancy clothes and waterlilies in the pond, and half the night you're
a dependable chap, mounting the stairs in lamplight to the bath, but then the too white teeth all night
all over the American Sky, too much to bear, this constant fingering, your hands a river gesture, the birds in flight, the birds still singing outside the greasy window, in the trees.

Do you think Harry will die when he finally faces Voldemort? Do you think the tie that he has with him will affect everything? Do you think anyone else important will die in this last one? I work at a library and I am already #92 on the waiting list out of 250 and we opened a couple days ago!
