It's a reasonable question sadly, but I don't thik it would bring peace. Some would use it as an excuse to grab more power in the aftermath, and some would see it as a sign from God that they are on the right track.

No. In fact, disaster would likely make it worse. It could, however, be solved through human involvement, but it would be ugly. It's a two-step process, really.

1. Get rid of Israel. Do this, and you've already solved a MASSIVE part of the problem. This is because much of the violence in the Middle East stems from the fact that Jews are loathed throughout the region, yet thet sit squarely in the middle of it. This would also remove much of the anti-West sentiment in the region, as it would remove the commonly held view in the region that Westerners (the U.S. in particular) are a bunch of Zionists who love only Israel.

2. Completely remove the Western presence in the region. Much of the anti-West/U.S. sentiment in the region stems from the feeling that U.S. military presence in various states throughout the region amounts to occupation (Iraq is the obvious example here, but a bigger issue is U.S. presence in places like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait). This being the case, many of the citizens of these states see the U.S. as an intrusive occupying force. I reference the U.S. specifically here, but it is worth noting that it is not the only offender, other Western states hold similar, but less intrusive interests in the region.

This all being said, in my humble opinion, only the latter is practical. The state of Israel is just as entitled to exist as any other, so we cannot possibly justify its abolition. Furthermore, as the single most powerful nation in the world, it is our duty to protect states (such as Israel) that encounter vicious hostility from all sides. However, I think that step two is a real possibility for U.S. foreign policy that would significantly improve our standing in the region, and leave Americans significantly safer from extremist groups.

Not really, all we'd need to do is remove all military forces from that part of the world and then wait several centures for the hatred to simmer down and be forgotten. Granted, if Bush didn't do all the ignorant crap he did it'd probably only take a couple decades for the hate to go away since it'd be much less in quantity but hey what can you do?

I only think that peace will come once the Anti-Christ is in charge. I don't plan on being here for that
