Hmmm....

There was a Ghana Empire about 1000 years ago but that wasn't connected to the country of Ghana. The Ghana Empire was named after it's ruler - The Ghana (means king of the warriors). It was established on the North African to Europe trading route exporting salt and gold from Africa and importing manufactured goods from Europe.

The Ghana Empire was about 1000 miles north of the country of Ghana in what is now Mali and Mauritania.

The country of Ghana wasn't formed until 1957, prior to that it was two separate countries, namely The Gold Coast and British Togoland.

As for ancient Ghana - only the Ghana Empire is ancient. As for moving to where it is now - it's never moved.
