When you read a non fiction book with pictures in the middle. Do you look at the images before you reach them in the book or do you wait until you come to them?

I always wait until I come to them. Just wondered.

How powerful is our spirit? Can we draw enough energy within ourselves to acheive anything? I truly think that humans are gifted with the unique ability to overcome any challenge. Aside from our intellect, the human will, I think, is one reason our species is not extinct.

A man of principle is rewarded only with more principles to uphold.

It would explain why selfless actions invariably are not rewarded with selfish results.

I like books like Patricia Cornwell's, and crime fiction. I also really like mysteries about serial killers (not to sound morbid, or anything)
Any recommendations of series or authors would be great. Thanks.

Try as I may, I just can't grasp that the life of Jesus embodied the principle of Christian hedonism, the essential conflict (in my mind) being the motivation for Jesus' actions. My interpretation is that His actions were motivated by His love for mankind (and obedience to the Father), and that while he certainly did delight in fellowship with God, that self-pleasure was not his primary motive.

This is kind of going out on a limb, but I remember several years ago reading a poem of her's in an anthology. I can't really remember much of it, so sorry that I can't be more specific. From what I remember it was about memories. They compared something to a cat's emerald green eyes. That is all that I remember. Anybody happen to recognize what I'm talking about? Or am I just crazy, lol..

mine's "He wishes for the cloths of heaven"

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
