The librarian does not alphabetize the books, don't set them in the right section. I told the principal today, and she told me not to worry about it, she will take care of it. But, she doesn't ever go into the library and look at the books or the order they are in, she doesn't know how to alphebatize the book or go in numeraical order.

I'm looking for a non-scam website where a good piece of short fiction could be sold to individual readers, and the royalties, on a per-purchace basis, is divided fairly between myself and the site.

The book, Harper’s Pictorial History of the War with Spain [New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1899] written by Major General Nelson A. Miles. According to findagrave.com, he was born 8/8/1839 and died 5/15/1925. He is interred at Arlington, Section 3, Lot 1873. My neighbor showed me this and said that it was handed down in his family and wanted to know if I could give him any value, historical significance....ANY info would be greatly appreciated.

My husband wants an acoustic guitar just for sitting around playing. He's an intermediate player. What's a good, inexpensive one to get him for Christmas? Has anyone tried a Takamine Jasmine? Do they sound OK? I don't know anything and wanted to surprise him.

I have to read it for my history class and I want to know if I will retain all the information in one sitting or if it will be so boring that I'll have to start reading it weeks in advance. I can read pretty fast.

these words we wish to say
we can't, to great
they are but a mere memory
long forgotten
hold them now
for they are my heart
understand why
I cannot say how
I love you
thank you

Hello everyone,

I have a poem that I translated from Persian to English. This is a poem from Maulavi Jalaludin Rumi.

The poem is about Art and Artists. We are organizing a painting gallery and we would like to use this poem in our banner for the gallery.

I want to ask the English Gurus for a favor to make these sentences sound nice in English. Here is the translation and general meaning of the poem:

No painter makes painting for selling, but for the art of drawing
No potter makes pots for water, but for the art of pottery
No bowl maker makes bowls for serving food, but for the art of bowl making
No calligrapher writes for reading, but for the art of calligraphy

If anyone recognizes this poem and has come across the proper translation please point me to it, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Life is a dear thing to all of us but if it came to making a decision to sacrifice your life so that the world could have a better chance at adapting into a lasting world peace, would you yield?

There are plenty of people who have given their lives already, some as soldiers, some as martyrs, some for good and some for bad. Assuming that your own sacrifice would be a "no-brainer" decision and a personal sacrifice which could yield good without a doubt, would you do it? Would you be willing to die for the sake of a more peaceful world?

If you answered "yes" to this question and you believe in life after death, do you realize that sacrificing the idea of your after-death life might help to achieve this same illusive goal of world-wide peace? Are you willing to donate that "life" to help achieve peace on earth now?
