Where/when did groin-padding originate? It doesn't seem to be prevalent in modern ballet, but traditional ballet seems to go all-out. I can understand padding to hide what's REALLY there, but they sure seem to go overboard.

The synopsis was that it was the war & a family were on board a ship. The lady of the family met another family on board. (both families were American). Then years later the man & woman meet up in France. The guy was called Nick & the lady was called Leila or Leigh-anne. I can't remember.

But I remember that the front cover was dark blue. (no it's not 'No greater love' cos that was about the titanic

This is for a paper on diverse populations--sources need to be reliable, and preferably some with an overview/timeline.

I picked up a book at a yard sale and lost it before I could finish it. This is what I know;
- The author is a man and is British
- The word "smoke" was in the title
- The main character was a cat burgler named Jethro who is being blackmailed by the British government.
- The book takes place in London shortly after WWII
- I think it may be part of a series because there were references to earlier events that the author seemed to feel that the reader would be aware of.

I know it's not a lot to go on. I've stumped the folks at the local Barnes and Noble. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give. The book was very good and I was really enjoying it until I misplaced it. Thanks in advance to everyone.
