Its a calendar. It told the locals when to plant and when to harvast, based on observations of celestial bodies and how they change throughout the year. That's all. No boogiemen from space, but they were used by what the Catholic church would call pagans. They were druids. Pagan is a pigeonhole term to indicate any belief in Europe that was squashed by the Vatican.

Stonehenge was a place of worship for pagans and was also used as a calendar (sort of like the way a sundial tells the time). There are some flat stones which were used as altar stones during the druidic times. Stonehenge is not the only 'henge' in the world...there are in fact, many in Wales alone, where the blue stones that make up Stonehenge originally came from (the Welsh are a bit wierd sometimes .... in a nce way.... but are my no means, aliens :o)!!). There is at least one henge in Japan.

Similarly, there is a pyramid / temple in Mexico that has the same dimensions as Stonehenge and is directly west of Stonehenge....I know, I know... .some people will think that this is as a result of alien intervention... but we have to take into consideration the age of these structures and the the old religions that may have inspired them.

I really think that it was made for humans, because the aliens have millions and millions of stars to take at references, they no need a simple medium star and one planet to trace a route or create a point of arrive. Is a normal astronomical observatory in base of solar system planet.

It was there when the Druids arrived, unknown to many it sends a beam of energy to space, if you think I'm not serous a experiment was conducted by a student by sticking a coat hanger into the ground and having it blasted up into the air with great force.

The early CElts, the Druids used it as a holy place for their religious rites. Some theorists think sacrifices may have been made there. I visited there once and it did not feel evil, just awesome.
