It makes you feel like you can help someone. I like asking questions because you can get some actual feedback from other people that you wouldn't normally get. Some questions you ask can stop and make a person think twice. It also helps as you answer all these question to define who you are and you can really begin to understand where exactly you stand on different subjects.

The reason probably involves the fact that points are awarded. We have some desire to advance to the next level, and we receive a psychological reward whenever we earn points.

Because I am at work and I have tons of things better to do, and I am wildly procrastinating....
Plus, of course, it offers an opportunity to be interfering, bossy and judgemental at a safe-ish distance....
