This is for a paper on diverse populations--sources need to be reliable, and preferably some with an overview/timeline.

Well, the book I am going to suggest tells the history of diverse populations in the United States. Included in this is the history African Americans. The book is called A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn. It has been widely criticized and widely praised amoung differering groups. But it is as reliable as you are likely to get on short notice. I am including a link to the online version of the book. Hope it helps.

just so you know, wikipedia is not reliable for a paper. people can change information and some may be opinions, etc. plus, it isn't necessarily factual information that is posted, and people don't cite their sources usually.

other than that, i recommend doing research at a library. they will have the best reliable information. i know, i hate libraries too, but they are still the best reliable sources.
