I am a tattooist... and have been for 14 years.... I highly suggest that you do not use Vaseline on a tattoo. Petroleum can damage the tattoo and remove color. A& D ointment is probably fine, but truthfully, you should speak to the tattoist who did your work... Only he or she knows the type of ink they used, and what products work the best with that ink.... There are a million different types of ink on the market now-a-days... Dont risk the tattoo you probably paid a lot for over a couple of dollars spent on proper aftercare..... It is a lifetime investment.... Good luck!

Use a very thin layer of A&D ointment, it's cheap, like $2 for a tube that'll last you for a whole sleeve worth of tattoos. Only use for the first few days, then after that use an unscented lotion.
When it start to itch, don't scratch. Instead just slap it like you would a mosquito bite, and that works really well, it doesn't hurt your tattoo area at all. No worries.

I've always used A&D ointment during the first 2 weeks of healing.

It is okay to use but A&D is better make sure you apply only a thin layer and dab with a tissue the more it is moist the longer it takes to heal just don't scratch your tat when it starts scabbing or you can lose color.

No... when u first get a tattoo done it prevents the scab from drying out. Cos when the scab dries and falls off the color can fade

Don't know, they told me to use A & D ointment. It could be found in the baby section. It worked well for all of my tatoo.
