I'd just like to find more places and periods that could compare a bit to today - as an example, I'd say that the Victorian Era in England, the time of the industrial revolution, and both ancient Rome and ancient Greece share many of our societal aspects (heavy consumerism and trade, a broad base of affluent citizenry clamouring for entertainment and enjoyment, total over-indulgence in all things and a perceived threat from subversive forces with an ideological backing, etc.).

Any other things you feel might be worth checking out?

Thanks.

The main character in "Mysterious Ways" does not fair so well in the end of the book. Any ideas on theme or where Davis was going with this?

A portfolio is available, and you like the work they've done, the price is only the cost of supplies. You like your finished work and get to be a part of a new portfolio. Don't forget to tip your artist!

I have read many books, some of which are Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment", Shelley's "Frankenstein", Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and My Hyde", Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey" and some of Poe's works. Bearing my area of interest in mind, what book do you recommend I read? If the original work was not in English, which translation is adequate? Do you recommend I re-read a book?

don't list a characteristic but list an actual action or specific thing

for example instead of saying ignorance say racism or more specific judging Xcolor for being Xway.

There are these people here in town. They make fun of the way we talk, Call us names. I have nothing against these people in town. I just want to know why they are so mean. What did i do to them? I never did any thing wrong, I pray for these people all the time, If these people where to know me, That I'm a Vary trusty guy. I don't lie, cheat, steal. I keep my promises, and i don't give a promise that i cant keep. Only if that they know that not every native American is the same as others. maybe there will be some peace here in this town. There was this time In this School P.G.S.S. (Prince George Secondary School) It was winter, There was this group of people i walked pass. I was going in the side door and i seen a snow ball fly pass me split second later, Snow ball Hit me in the back of the head. I didn't do any thing about it. I know the school wouldn't do anything about it. This happen all the time. I dropped out, I was 14, Still never went back. I really forgive these people for----

I'm looking for fictional books, but ones that are set in Chicago and/or concern Chicago's history, preferably around the 19th century. Amazon has been rather unhelpful.
