There are these people here in town. They make fun of the way we talk, Call us names. I have nothing against these people in town. I just want to know why they are so mean. What did i do to them? I never did any thing wrong, I pray for these people all the time, If these people where to know me, That I'm a Vary trusty guy. I don't lie, cheat, steal. I keep my promises, and i don't give a promise that i cant keep. Only if that they know that not every native American is the same as others. maybe there will be some peace here in this town. There was this time In this School P.G.S.S. (Prince George Secondary School) It was winter, There was this group of people i walked pass. I was going in the side door and i seen a snow ball fly pass me split second later, Snow ball Hit me in the back of the head. I didn't do any thing about it. I know the school wouldn't do anything about it. This happen all the time. I dropped out, I was 14, Still never went back. I really forgive these people for----

doing all that and i hope they are going on the right path now. I had some thoughts of hurting these people. To teach them a lesson, I thought it will solve it, But i didn't know any better i was only 14, I'm 21 now still in grade 9. I just want to know what people have against Native Americans.

Hey I was born in Prince George!!! So you are Canadian not American? Well no one should treat you like that but I think kids in PG are just generally ignorant. You shouldn't let them be responsible for you dropping out at 14! What are you going to do? I don't think you want be one of those people that hang out on George Street in front of the bars and then go home and live off the reserve. That is what many people think of Natives and that shouldn't be right but the problem is that a lot of people do it and white people see it. I have know some Natives though who took advantage of the free college education that Status Indians get and got degrees and have fabulous jobs. I know a lot of people get mad that you guys get free college but I am just mad that not enough Natives take advantage of it. If they did then one day we wouldn't need it. Kids are idiots whether they are white or purple. Funny thing was that I lived for a while in a Native Community called Lillooet. Maybe you have heard of it? Anyway, my and my brother were made fun of for being white! I mean kids were really awful to us. It was because we were different and it hurt but it wasn't are fault and this isn't yours. Just don't let them ruin your life. See if you can transfer to DP Todd or Duchass, or maybe a special Native program. Please just don't give up because of a bunch of small minded PG kids. They are all going grew up and work at the mill if they are really really lucky.

Don't give people like that the power. I know it is hard to deal with that sort of racism. My mother is native american and my father is "white", and I am sure that you know that the racism works on all levels, and I get it all of the time from both sides. I didnt grow up on my reservation, but have returned recently and dont fit in. But living near a reservation and not having the complexion of a native I also hear the negative remarks bc many people dont think they are in "mixed" company when talking with me.
It is truly a shame how people are so quick to judge someone without giving themselves the chance to get to know people. There are bad qualities of all races, sexes, and classes; so if you just assume hate against someone for a group of people that have done wrong, wouldnt you hate all people?
But the best thing you can do and have done is not to carry around hate for the ignorant. My favorite saying is ignorance must be bliss and those people are proof.
One question do you live in Canada?

That is so horrible no one deserves that.I always wanted to speak to a native American cos in Ireland they're protrayed as these wonderful people with a very rich history.I think the reason these people targeted you was not because of your nationality, but cos you were an easy target. You didn't stick up for yourself so they just didn't stop.Always stick up for yourself no matter what cos if you don't so many people are goin to walk all over ya!I really do think ya should go back to school.I know you said your older now but you can get a tutor. If you don't have an education you wont have a good life. You may never see these people any more but they still have a grip on your life, they are still torturing you!Make it stop right here, right now!!Its gone on to long.Go out get an education make a good life for yourself. You've let this hold you back way to long.It ends here & now!!Start to stand up forself.I now its easier said then done but I'm tellin ya,you can do it.The best way I found was mackin them fear you.If they ever steped outa line you put them straight back in.You don't even need any violents. But above all,let go of the past & get an education.Good luck!!

No one should have anything against Native Americans. Don't assume because a few don't act right that everyone is the same. Where I live people get hit with snow balls all the time. It doesn't mean anything. Go back to school and finish your education. The best thing you can do is to further your education and show them all. Good luck and stay true to yourself.

Native Americans are clearly the group that suffered the most in the settling of North America by Europeans and the subsequent development of the United States and Canada.
They are really too diverse as a group to characterize en masse - the Indians around the Great Lakes were totally different in culture than those on the Great Plains or the coasts of the Pacific Northwest. In general they were typical hunter/gatherer or farming communities. The idea that they were noble or pure was a late development not based on reality. They had in general a similar code of honor to the Scots, Vikings or others.
They have historically displayed only a slight interest in maintaining their way of life - more in maintaining their culture. For instance they quickly adopted the use of horses (which were not in North America until the Spanish arrived) - the entire plains indian culture was based upon this change. They likewise were happy to use metal axes and get guns. Some resisted the changes but most did not. Likewise many northern indians use snowmobiles and rifles instead of dogsleds and harpoons for hunting.
The indian cultures largely disappeared because the indians were killed or they could not longer maintain them on the lands they were given as reservations.
The current indians have little in common with the original natives. They do not live on the same land (or a tiny fraction of it), do not live in the same style (hunting, farming, gathering using traditional tools and resources), or have the same cultural interactions with others (wars, raids, trading, etc). Obviously this is not true in some cases - particularly the farther north you go.
For Indians attempting to truly live like their ancestors, their keeping themselves apart from the external society makes sense. But many Indians are simply keeping themselves isolated as if that in and of itself kept them purer and made them truer natives.
I think that Indians need to be either mainstreamed into society and merge with the general population or truly separated out in lands that can sustain their traditional way of life. The half-in/half-out status of casinos and other non-traditional ways of making money simply maintains them in an outsider and essentially outcast role.

Native Americans are fine with me. Native Americans were here before we were. Why they treated you so badly was because some people think that the color of their skin makes them better. Now look at you, it seems that their treatment really hurt, you are still carrying this around with you, but you still don't wish anyone bad. What matters to me and should matter to you, is how you feel in your heart.
We have all gone through some kind of abuse by others. Just get rid of that baggage and keep your head high and your heart pure.

You shouldn't have let them prevent you that way. You can always go back and get your education. Some people simply don't accept everyone else, mostly due to what they learn from the people around themselves. I'm a small portion of Creek Native American, so obviously I have nothing against N. Americans. I wouldn't take physical action against them, I'd attempt to talk it out and be direct and truthful, and try to help them with the ignorance and hate they had in their hearts, through acceptance and perphaps a small portion of turning the other cheek. If they didn't wish to talk about it, I'd simply exclude them from my life and get away from them so their karma could have a minimal affect on myself.

You know the answer to this question. There is nothing wrong with native americans. The assholes are the ones you described.
This is what I say to you my friend. Everybody gets their nose bloody sometime. Its not right, but I assure you that they will get whats coming to them. Suck it up, finish your school and keep moving forward. You'll blow by those morons. And you don't have to be anything more than a Native American to do it.
Best to you...
