Is it appropriate to get your boss some type of gift when leaving your job?

We have a really good work relationship and I have been here for 2 years, I am moving on to a better opportunity, is it appropriate to get a small token gift and card to say thanks for everything etc? Like a flower or candle or something? THis is not for xmas necessarily, but just as a thanks for the support. Do you think this is appropriate or would it be more awkward?

pdf export with OpenOffice does not save font?

I have just worked for a few hours on a christmas newsletter using OpenOffice, and when I got done with the document, I exported it into a PDF format. I was really surprised (and frustrated), when I realized that my wonderful font (Myriad Pro) was replaced with Arial into the pdf file.
Please tell me what can I do?

ps. Microsoft Office is not an option

Physics Question?

A projectile can be fired at many angles between zero degrees (horizontally) and ninety degrees (vertically). Which angle would give the greatest horizontal displacement down range? Which pairs of angles give the same landing spot?

A question about Fermionic Condensates.?

Taking an element such as rubidium, when it is supercooled the atoms join together to form a 'superatom'. Rubidium atoms are bosonic so they move together but don't tend to stick together, so what actually happens to the atoms at temps close to abs zero that causes them to become a fermionic condensate.

Am I the only one who feels this way about pet names?

Why is it guys who dont know someone insist on calling them babe/baby/hun or any other pet name, I mean come on are we not worth being asked what our names are?
