Why is it guys who dont know someone insist on calling them babe/baby/hun or any other pet name, I mean come on are we not worth being asked what our names are? Sorry if I seem like im being a biatch about it but seriously why do they insist on calling us by pet names instead of just taking the time and just asking our name??!?

I agree it's best if they ask your name and go by that to show you that they are interested to know about you and maby get to know you before they just cut to the chase and start assuming that you like to to be called such

I think sometimes its a Southern thing, and its not meant as disrespect. There is a time and a place for it, though. If I am interviewing someone for a job, and they call me sweetheart or honey, I get really annoyed.

It bothers me....if it's a little 'ole man, that's one thing....but I dislike it..
My hubby used to do this when we first started dating-to other women---he feels much differently about it now and doesn't do it....he now realizes that it really does make a lot of women uncomfortable....especially if they don't know the guy.

I'm not hung-up on guys using my name. If they want to use a pet name that's ok. I think what you mean is when guys use a pet name in a condescending way. That's not ok. But mostly I think they do it with out thinking about it.

First of all, to be fair, women do this to guys, too. So please don't play the innocent victim card on this one, okay?
If you don't know someone, it is best to not use these kinds of names with them. It can come across as patronizing and sometimes even rude.

I agree. If i dont know you on a personal level, i do NOT want you to call me a pet name. It really irritates me. i am not your baby/hun/sweetie.

Yeah I can see where you are coming from but for me it depends. If its like at a party and some guy calls me that I would be like wtf but when I am at the store and buy something and the guy at the register says have a nice day sweety or honey that doesn't bother me...

They are men and think with the wrong head. Thus referring to us by our names would be to hard to remember.
