Are Catholics who have small families practicing birth control or do they simply give up all sex after one or two births?

Why did most good Catholics of 100 years ago have large families of five or six or more children vs today?

For example, Benamin Franklin (a Christian, not a Catholic) was one of about 17 children.

Understand that my birthday is on Friday, another cousin's (Jill) is on Sunday and my aunt's birthday is on Monday.

So plans made 2 months ago to go to dinner and a movie (all of us) on Friday night . My aunt and I go out of town for Saturday and Sunday (just us).

As of yesterday, cousin Mary (had her night out in October) says she has to attend her company Christmas party on Friday night. Her daughter is in a school play tonight. She wants to move the dinner to after the school play so that she can come (this means her parents pay for her dinner out). She called her sister who said they could not come if it was on a week night due to kid's tests in school the next day.

Then they decided to have another dinner out for Jill (who's birthday is Sunday) on Saturday night. This totally blows the weekend away out of the water. My aunt and I have wanted to do the weekend away for 2 years now.

Am I right to feel frustrated? What happened to MY birthday?

I'm not pregant yet but my husband and I are trying to conceive and were already thinking of names. We already have a few names picked out and I would like to know what your thoughts are on these names and if you have any other thoughts or ideas on names and middle names.

For boys:
Ian Gerald (my husband and I are sort of leaning toward this name)
Chase Gerald(my husband loves this name and I'm starting to like this name too)
Brycen/Bryson Gerald

The middle name Gerald is my husband's first name so we want to keep the middle name as Gerald but if you have any other thoughts for names that would go with the middle name of Gerald that would be appreciated!!

For girls:
Kalissa Lynn
Biance Lynn
Shayna Lynn
Tandra Leanne
Shaylee Miranda

I also like the name Delaney and Gracelyn but I can't think of any middle names. Do you have any ideas for middle names for these two names?

I bought my thirteen year old cousin a PS2 a month ago as an incentive to having good behavior in school. (I bought it with my return check from college and when his mother got her taxes back next February, she would pay me back for it.)

The rules were:
1)His grades had to stay above an 85,
2)He could not get suspended,
3)His homework had to be completed every single night. I made absolutely certain that he understood these rules completely - more than once! - and he assured me that he did. If any of these things failed to happen, there would be consequences for his actions. For instance, with #1, he would lose the PS2 until his grades came up, #2, he would lose the PS2 for double the amount of time he was suspended for, and #3, he had to complete his homework before being able to play the PS2.

Recently, he was suspended twice from school as well as received an F in English / Language Arts. Both times I let the rules slide. They attended a hearing this morning for his school adm. to vote on whether or not he should attend Warlick ("an alternative school for troublemakers") due to his bad behavior.

I followed the rules I'd set and took his PS2 away until Friday since he was suspended for one day on Wednesday. But his mother refused to follow the rules b/c my cousin had cried at his Warlick hearing this morning! She refused to let me keep the PS2 until Friday because she felt sorry for Matthew and since she was “paying me back for the game system, then it was already hers and she could take it away and let him have it as she sees fit.” But she hasn't given me any money yet, therefore, it is technically still up to me, isn't it?

Matthew doesn't receive punishment for his actions and I am trying to enforce that around here to the best of my ability. Is that wrong? I mean I know I am not his mother but his mother isn't one either! Every time Matthew does something that he knows he shouldn't do and something that he knows is wrong and will get him into trouble, she makes excuses for him and goes blind the faults he makes. I know that no one is perfect but when I was growing up I was punished for the things that I did wrong. Shouldn't he be as well? I live with them and I am here all day everyday – no job yet (help!), recently finished school – and Matthew has no chores, he watches television (satellite/Direct TV), plays on his Gamecube and PS2 for hours at a time, plays on the Internet for hours at a time, goes out and rides his bike without telling anyone where he is going, when he leaves, or when he'll be back. His room is a filthy disgusting mess, he refuses to clean up after or even feed his dogs, and pitches the fit and temper tantrum when we ask him at least take out the trash! It's ridiculous!

Am I being to hard on him for taking the PS2 away, even though his mother made me return it to him? Am I really acting way too much like his mother instead of his cousin? Was I right to stick by my word and take it in the first place, if only just to prove that I was serious about the punishment?

My son is two years old. Ever since he was 4 months old he has had a snotty nose. When he develops a fever and I take him to the doctor they always ask how long he has had a snotty nose and I say his whole life and they look at me like I am crazy. He is currently taking Zyrtec daily and we use a humidifier every night in his bedroom. He has horrible breath (mostly from mouth breathing) and suffers from nosebleeds. Not to give too much information but his snot is thick and usually yellow or green and his boogers are like rubber cement. It is honestly embarrasing that his nose is so disgusting. Does anyone else have this problem and know what I can possibly do to clear this up? He finished an antibiotic for strep over the Thanksgiving break and it helped keep his nose clean for about three days and we were right back to the snot fountain again.

The five questions are:

1 - "What are you thinking?"
2 - "Do you love me?"
3 - "Do I look fat?"
4 - "Do you think she is prettier than me?"
5 - "What would you do if I died?"

What makes these questions so bad is that every one is guaranteed to explode into a major argument and/or divorce if the man does not answer properly, which is to say dishonestly.

For example:

1 - "What are you thinking?" The proper answer to this question, of course, is, "I'm sorry if I've been pensive, dear. I was just reflecting on what a warm, wonderful, caring, thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful woman you are and what a lucky guy I am to have met you." Obviously, this statement bears no resemblance whatsoever to what the guy was really thinking at the time, which was most likely one of five things: a - Baseball
b - Football
c - How fat you are.
d - How much prettier she is than you.
e - How he would spend the insurance money if you died

devastating periods in US history. Why are there some idiots around that still insist he has done a good job? He has smashed the previous record set by Ronald Reagan and whilst he has been chilling out at his ranch September 11th occured (he was warned in August 2001 that Bin Laden was determined to attack inside the USA) then there was the Iraq war where thousands of US soldiers have been killed or had limbs blown off etc. How can anybody possibly defend George Walker Bush after his disastrous Presidency?
