The uniformed serviceman/woman is targeted simply because they symbolise the frustrations that the common citizen recognises as a mirrored reflection of a perspective that is formed by allowing others to formulate in both thought and opinion .
Many , however , salute the men and women in uniform if not outright then in their hearts .
As a former U.S.Marine blooded in the jungles and at home in the civilian world I can not only sympathise but empathise with you and your husband . I have the utmost respect for the warrior abroad and the warrior wife at home .
I regret that the honorable are not honored but that is the way of things particularly from those who do not understand the warrior mentality of the elite and their spouses who struggle on alone at home .
I salute you . . . Semper Fidelis

I understand this 100% I am also a Marine Wife and I have noticed alot of times my husband will get nasty comments or just a mean stare. Alot of times its basically people dont like the politics of the war so they take it out on the guys. They dont realize that its not their faults and they do what they are told to do. But the democrats come in and try to make them look like a bunch of baby killers, which as you and I both know couldnt be further from the truth. My husband is currently serving his second tour in Iraq!

Hi Sam,
Ignorance is bliss for many who frequent this site.
They have no idea what it takes to have the courage to serve ones country in a time of crises, but take for granted all the privileges and freedoms that have been paid for in blood by soldiers over the years.
And then there are those who just hate to see people stand up against what they would like to see inflicted on the world, the ones to whom the words freedom of speech and democracy are dirty words.

A couple of people can be really loud.
I think the majority of Americans support us (maybe not what we're doing, but us as troops); it's just that the ones who don't happen to have the most obnoxiously loud voices.
Everybody's a critic, huh? :) Oh well - we're here to make sure that they can be.

I don't think people are being rude or even non supportive. I just think Americans have finally caught on that these Men and Women are just trying to do their jobs and they have all been taken. They have been lied to along with the rest of America for so long...it's just very upsetting to watch. People dying everyday just so the Bush Mafia and Cheney Regime can line their pocketbooks along with all their friends. The longer they keep it going the richer they get. Fighting a "Business Mans" war that has nothing to do with security of a nation. It's just a sad state of affairs we are in the middle of with no end in sight. I respect and highly thank the Men and Women putting their lives at risk, I just wish it was for a better reason. Absolutely nothing America was told as reasoning has come to pass. It has all been a bunch of B.S.

People are not intentionally rude...just ignorant of what is actually happening. You have to remember that America is at the mall while the soldiers are at war.
Second...all that stuff comes with the territory. Part of the price you have to pay for not finishing college and having to join the service is dealing with people not understanding you or what you do. Best wishes to you, your father and husband.

SImply put, people are IGNORANT!! They run their mouth because they don't have anything intelligent to say. If they knew how to see things from another point of view, they wouldn't make themselves look so insanely STUPID! The jackasses who say such disrespectful things should spend one day in the shoes of a serviceman; then we can see what they have to say.

It is just downright wrong!
We wouldn't have this great country if it weren't for brave men and women like your father and husband.
Stupid politicians and media don't help situations either.

what a stupid question, seriously people are not rude. Tell me where people have been rude beacuse i come from a family with military background and we all get lots of respect and we are constantly thanked for our service. You are one of those persons who likes to stir up arguments? arent you? People appreciate what troops do, but dont understand the reason for war. I understand why americans are upset many lifes have been lost. PEOPLE have the right to be upset they are not rude. Dont waste your time trying to get people more upset.
