I just found out that my thirteen year old daughter started smoking. She told me that most of her friends smoke and she was already hooked and wants me to buy cigarettes for her.My wife and I smoke so we should have seen this coming. My daughter said her friends parents smoke with them and have even been buying cigarettes for them.I just need a few opinions on this.

Many years ago i had a £100 bet with Ladbrokes with odds of 11/10 that it would snow on xmas day.I woke early that morning about 6am to open prezzies with my son,to my joy on opening back door their was a layer of snow on the garden,my son gets to see snow and i've won my bet so i thought. The next day on my way to a match i went onto bookies to collect my bet, when told i hadn't won i was dismayed how was this not so.The staff couldn't help so i phoned Ladbrokes head office to be told it had to snow on the London weather centre for the bet to be won.Snow is snow surely? weather it falls in London or Birmingham[where i live],it snowed xmas day that was the bet end of story.I was extremely irate the amount of the bet and the winnings was imaterial it was the principal of the thing.I have since never placed the same bet and never entered a Ladbrokes shop,i'm still confused as to why just the London weather center?.I'd apprecciate the views of any body on this matter is bet still the same?.

The buildings collapsed because the asbestos that was in them when they were built was removed. This meant they could no longer withstand a plane crashing into them.

The planes WERE hijacked.
They DID crash into the buildings

Oh and thousands of innocent people were killed or does that not pick up on your radars? So how about you actually look at the facts and let the dead rest in peace?

I am still doing it by hand. Don't have a dishwasher and don't need one.
(with water benig scarce here in southern New South Wales, it is probably a good thing that I still do it by hand. It saves water.)

I have tried several receipes and even purchased the Pillsbury sugar cookie dough but all sucked.

I really need a proven receipe that I can use to impress my family and friends during my X-mas dinner party..

In Aesop's Fables the 'Fox And The Grapes'...
The Fox convinces himself that the grapes look sour after he fails to obtain them from high up in the tree.

While cognitive dissonance does soften the blows of reality...
I wonder what long term affects this has on the Self.

What happens to the true disappointment when one easily says:

"The wo/man of my dreams married someone else...well...it never would have worked out with us anyway."

What do you think of having hidden cameras in very high crime areas ?
Lets face it cameras are all over, from Times Square to beaches to parking lots you could probably view it but areas where we could really use cameras to protect innocent people from thugs they arent there . If its infringement , what about all the victims assumption that this isn't going to happen to them where they feel safe, innocent social people should have more rights than someone who won't follow the law.

I state that there is no such thing as "supernatural".

now, this does not, in the way that I am saying it, mean that the things people call supernatural, do not exist. (well, some do not, but alot of it is real too)

how can I belive both of these things, it seems rather obviously contradictory?

well, this is an issue of defining "supernatural" the word itself would mean that its outside of the natural world. and this is inaccurate. or rather, it would be more accurate to say that the computer your using to read this, is more "supernatural" than say, ghosts.

how? if you were to accept that ghosts existed, would they not be a phenomena in the natural course of things?
computers sure aren't "natural" in that sense.

would it change anything, for those who don't "believe" in the "supernatural", if it was in fact, merely an extension of nature that is entirely beyond the current scope of science?
