My boyfriend went to order my engagement ring on Tuesday. When he went to pay for it his check declined.. He called the bank because he has money in it and they had put a hold on it since he hadn't used his savings account for over a year. They told him it was fine to use. He went back last night to order it again and the same thing happened. He is waiting on the bank to call him back? Does anyone else think this is just a bad sign and maybe it isn't right?? My boyfriend doesn't believe in stuff like this, but I do.. What are your thoughts??

If the dollar keeps going the way it has been going i.e. straight down then we are not going to have a recession instead we will have a depression. The money that we are throwing away supporting wars in countries far far away is one of things that´s fueling this drop. Is anyone else out there as concerned as I am about this?

Now he tells me he is "damaged" and that he is a terrible person. "If I only knew"... While we have been together he has told me that he's never been tempted to cheat on me and sex has never been a real necessity for him. BUT - if he didn't cheat, is he guilty of something and that's why he wants a divorce?

I'm 33 and just had my first child in June. A beautiful baby boy. One of the main reasons I waited so long to have kids is that all I ever heard growing up and in my 20's was how hard having kids was. Taking them everywhere with you, the crying, and the fact that your life was no longer yours and free to do as you please. Granted, my life has changed but not nearly as dramatic as I expected and taking care of my son seems natural and wonderful. How about you?

I want to use my old 24mm and 85mm and 135 lenses to their full potential, but if I put them on a K10 etc, where the image sensor is smaller than 35mm then I only get the middle bit of the lens...

Im just wondering if anyone else is in a similiar situation.. my now husband and i were talking about getting married, clearing debt, buying a house and having a baby! We were very excited about getting our lives on track and cleaning up our act! Well we got an unexpected surprise! We were pregnant, we were very happy but when we realized just how much debt my hubby had we were very very scared. I have no credit and he has horrible credit! He still owes from school (which he never even used his degree!) We are renting now and we struggle from time to time but we are doing ok. I want to buy a house and have another baby in the next 5 years but im terrified we will never be able to. He is a carpet installer which means every other season he has very little work=very little money. And i am a stay at home mom and i work 2 nights a week as a waitress. because of his schedule thats all i can do.Have any of you ever been in this type of situation? And did you ever buy a house?

The media seems to pick up this "credit crunch" phrase as a way of summing up the downturn in many housing markets. In my view "valuation problem" would more acurately describes the situation.

I'm not pretending to be a genius, but I think this is simple. In the long-term (think decades) homes prices must average a ratio to medium household income; when this get's out of whack, it just has to come back to norm. Easy credit may be the cause, but "lack of credit" is not the problem. Investors make reasonable calculations when making loans, if they don't,,, well, they learn quick not to be a sucker. Anyway would you agree "housing valuation" should trump news headlines in regard to the housing market, not "credit crunch"?
