I was accepted into a very prestigious Phd program in the United Kingdom. Recently, however, I've been calling into question whether this is the right environment for me to be in. I guess one could chalk it up to an existential crisis of sorts ("why am I doing this? why am I here?"). I'm just not seeing the "real-world" application of my studies (critical film analysis) and in the face of everything that's going on in the world I'm feeling a bit like a blip on the radar, slowly creeping into the oblivion of intellectual discourse never to be heard from again.

The biggest pro is that I'd get to teach: that is huge. Honestly it's the reason I wanted to do this in the first place. But, a big con is I also feel a large amount of guilt as my fiance is back home in the States finishing his MA (the plan is for us to get married in July, then he'll move over here and start a Phd program of his own). He's sacrificed a lot and I'm just generally worried about how complicated things have become

I think this is part of reflective thinking at its best. I find this to be the most difficult question to tackle. For instance, I could understand when I am honest to some person in certain circumstances, but when I try to see if I honest myself, I am left with a need for reassurance. How would you answer this question? And how could you ensure that you are not deceiving yourself?

a move in the right direction for the Jehovahs Witnesses. There is a group within the Organisation called "The Associated Witnesses for Reform on blood.
We are a group of Witnesses from many countries. Some members are presently serving as elders and Hospital Liason Commitee members or have previously served in that capacity.
Our objective is, to educate Jehovahs Witnesses, their family members, friends and healthcare providers regarding the irrational aspects of the Watchtower Societys policy on the use of blood and blood products. and to bring an end to a tragic and misguided policy which has claimed thousands of lives, many of them children."

My ex no longer has rights to our daughter. He signed away his parental rights when she was an infant and she doesn't know him now. My husband adopted her whens he was 2. He's the only father she knows.

There has been some trouble with the ex lately. He's decided he didn't want to sign his rights over and feels like he is entitled to visits even though he signed away his rights to visitation years ago. I feel it would be emotionally damaging to her at this point to have to see him, so I told him no.

He then told me that he'd find a way to see her, even if it meant going to her preschool and taking her. I called the police about it and was told this was a civil matter and they couldn't step in?

Is that true? Or did I come into contact with some lazy cops?
