It's no secret that quite a few musicians got the chance to put out an album or got themselves on a stage because of someone they knew that was well-liked and/or well-established in the business - a parent, child, friend, spouse, former roommate...whatever. It happens all the time, and I think people hardly blink at it any more. In fact, I think we almost expect it.

So what do you think are the most positive and negative examples of this in music? Who do you think has taken their own opportunity and done great things with it, and who has completely struck out at the plate and will probably never be heard from again?

I became engaged to my girl friend and now need to plan on a wedding. She wants to have all the traditional elements. Especially things like a dress, cake, hundreds of guests, a church, a reception, and pretty much everything else that is the norm. Is there any way to get these things for free or at little cost? I want this to be the happiest day of her life and it is so difficult to tell her we cannot do all the things she wants. Neither of us have a whole lot of money and I have a fairly expensive house payment that keeps me from being able to blow my entire savings and going into debt. Any tips and advice are really needed.

and that all men preach to that one God in their own way. Are they wrong to think that way or are there many Gods. If there is just one God then why do so many religions despise each other.

I wonder, how many people, like myself, who was brainwashed by parents, teachers and various priests had the intelligence, tenacity and foresight to question their outrageous religious beliefs, brainwashed, until I was 16, and now I am strictly a non-believer and cannot understand how an intelligent person can even imagine there are gods who create miracles, and that man, Jesus, who actually thought he was the son of a god.
Question: Have you ever questioned what you were taught those many years ago? And how did it turn out?
No unprovable bible quotes, PLEASE!!

I have been asked to sign a contination of employment contract as a while ago my employer got bought out. In signing this contract, I have noticed that there is a line as such: Your normal working hours are 8 to 6 which equates to 9 hours per week (excluding lunch break). Your lunch brake is 1 hour per day.
Does this mean that I am now legally entitled to work for just 1 day per week to get my full annual salary?
I am truly intruiged by the legal implications fo this!
PS - I also get 23 days holiday per year, so does this mean I now can work for just 29 days/weeks per year!!??

Why then do they go through such great lengths to hide everything ? Why all the stonewalling all the time ?

Seems Bush likes to pretend to be cooperative by offering "off-the-record" "interviews"...but not "under-oath"....

Is this what you call transparent government ?

Coming to a theater near you -- the "Intelligent Design vs. Darwin" debate. The new movie Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, starring Ben Stein, investigates the scientific and educational communities and how they deal with those who suggest that there might be some sort of intelligent design in nature
Producer Mark Mathis says the documentary uncovers a massive effort to silence those who disagree with evolutionary theory.

"The way that the academic elitist and the atheists constantly position this issue is that this is a science versus religion [debate]," he explains. "[They are saying] 'so you folks who have religious views, you have no place here in the real world of science' -- that's how they position it; and it's not true, that's not true. The folks who are doing research in this area of intelligent design are looking at, exclusively at, the science

Hello, we just started with these friendly little critters in math today, and the teacher promised a 10 class mark (A+) if anyone could correctly write this function in the following format:

[-A if x > or = z
|A|=
[A if x < z

That's the best I can explain it, so if you can grasp my question please try to answer it. The function she wants us to write correctly is:

f(x)=| x*2 -5x +4 | (*Meaning elevated to).

The second degree equation gives two results: +4 and +1. Kudos in advance for the help!

I don'k know I personally feel that he should have gotten put in jail. It''s obveise he did it I don't really think it's fair that he can get his big buddies to go and threaten the judge and jury so he won't get the death sentence. I can't believe our justice system is so flaud that rich people can get away with anything. I am not just hatten on rich people pretty girls with big boobs and blonde hair get away with anything to. Again fluad. I mean was there murders and D.U.I's when the founding fathers were alive? I doubt it because if there was then don't you think there would be better laws and trials? But that is just my view tell me how you feel please.

I have asked a previous question about removing Aluminum Siding and neglected to mention a few things so although the answers were helpful, they are not in line with what I'm trying to achieve.
I do know you can paing aluminum siding, but it is full of dents and holes and bad spots. I would like to rip all of it off and restore the cedar siding that is underneath which is in pretty good condition in the area's we've looked at. I've also spoken to the previous owners' son and my next door neighbor who has lived here since the houses were built in 1950. She says the only reason they put siding on was to eliminate having to take care of it and because the aluminum siding was the "new best thing" out there. Before the aluminum siding went up, they painted the cedar.
So my question is how long will this process take and when is the best time to start the project?
I live in Illinois, so we're hitting the cold season.

I went scouting the local garage sales this past weekend. I finally found one I liked and the woman says it is not for sale.

Also I would like to know if I can add assult and battery to the suit as the woman who was having the "garage sale" punched me when I said "Well if you are not selling your garage, why didn't you list it in the paper as a "Garbage Sale"?"
