Why then do they go through such great lengths to hide everything ? Why all the stonewalling all the time ?

Seems Bush likes to pretend to be cooperative by offering "off-the-record" "interviews"...but not "under-oath"....

Is this what you call transparent government ?

The fact that Bush and co do not see fit to cater to the paranoid requests of the idiot left, does not mean they have something to hide, it means they have better things to do.

This Bush Administration is the most secretive Administration ever. It is even worse than Nixon in that respect. One can wonder what they do have to hide. Why not, in an open democratic society should they let us in on most things and keep only truly state secrets secret?

The 9/11 investigation, Cheny's energy task force, etc. What could be more open and transparent?

we still don't know who was involved in dick cheney's energy taskforce when the bushies first took office.

we don't want to know state secrets, just who was there.

similarly, it's not possible to find out who visits cheney, again, we don't want to know state secrets, just who goes to see him.

those who have nothing to hide, hide nothing.

but it's very important to remember that both bush and cheney are alcoholics - and addicts are all about hiding their secret lives and then blaming someone else when everything falls apart.

Amen. They've been hiding things all along and have no plans to stop. And your edit is absolutely right, as well.

Give me one example where the White House has been "stonewalling" or been asked to swear "under-oath" on anything.

Know what you're talking about before you make such ignorant, blanket statements.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You're "examples" are totally false. In all of those cases he has done NOTHING illegal. Unlike Bill Clinton who lied under oath and obstruced justice, why do you think he was impeached?

We're at war here, everything cannot and should not be out in the open. Go back to ANY administration during wartime and see how things were handled then. Bush is being too open about things in my opinion.

So I'm still waiting for any REAL example where the White House has been "stonewalling" or been subpoenaed "under-oath".
