You will have a pre-determined court date on the summons. You will not have to attend the court. On the rear of the summons there will be a part for you to fill out as to whether you are pleading guilty or not guilty. Enter your plea of guilty, (as you clearly did not have a current valid m.o.t. ) You can add mitigating circumstances if you think it will help your case. You will more than likely be fined and court costs will be added. There will be no penalty points added to your licence as not having a valid m.o.t. is non endorsable.

Go to court on the date you were told. Bring in 25% of the payment, and ask the judge to let you set up a payment plan. Have a date in mind when it can be completely paid off. Make sure that date is within a few months time.

Write to the Court NOW explaining your genuine mistakes, plead guilty by letter and hope they accept that you have made a genuine error so that the fine is kept as low as possible. Ignore it any longer and they will make sure you are punished more severely , Courts hate being ignored.

Because your court system is very much like that in the US...I'd strongly suggest the following:
~ Call your court office and see if you can make payments to avoid further actions by the court.
~ Appear in court and explain the circumstances to the magistrate in hopes that the magistrate will understand your sincere honesty and possibly make exception!
Best wishes.

Never mind these things happen. Yes they will accept payment on the day. Write things on the calendar in future. Good luck.
