Hello, we just started with these friendly little critters in math today, and the teacher promised a 10 class mark (A+) if anyone could correctly write this function in the following format:

[-A if x > or = z
|A|=
[A if x < z

That's the best I can explain it, so if you can grasp my question please try to answer it. The function she wants us to write correctly is:

f(x)=| x*2 -5x +4 | (*Meaning elevated to).

The second degree equation gives two results: +4 and +1. Kudos in advance for the help!

Apparently it needs to be in compound function format (Piecewise). Sorry about now knowing the name, didn't know the translation from Spanish :P.

Could it possibly be:

f(x)= -(x*2-5x+4) if 1 x*2-5x+4 if 1>x>4

Te lo explico en espanol
el signo de x^2-5x+4 es:
++++++++(1)----------(4)++++++++
de modo f(x ) = x^2-5x+4 si x<= 1
f(x) = -x^2+5x-4 s 1< x<=4

finalmente
f(x) = x^2-5x+4 si x>4
Puedes acomodarlo al formato pedido

x*2 -5x +4 = 0 when x = 4 or 1,

x*2 -5x +4 > 0 when (-Inf, 1] < x < [4, Inf), and

x*2 -5x +4 < 0 when 1 < x < 4.
