How can I tell apart a geometric series from an alternating? Example: ∑ ((-6)^n-1)/(5^n-1), where n =1 and goes to infinity.

∑((-1)^n-1)/(n^6), where n=1 and goes to infinity.

Which is which? Should I just try to identify a and r, and if I get them, then is a geomtric? In other words, if I find the ratio, that proves the series to be geometric?

We recently moved to an area where we can't burn leaves, and my wife & I both miss that smell. Would like to find a candle that smells like it to take us back. Anyone know of where we could buy a candle with that smell?

I'm a senior in Puerto Rico and I really want to go to one of the Ivies, but I'm not sure if I can. I got a 1600 on the SAT (Reading-560, Math-510, Writing-610). I have one of the highest scores in my grade but I know it's nothing compared to kids in the states. My GPA is 3.9, I'm a member of the National Honor Society, and the editor of the yearbook. I want to be a zoologist/documentarist and I do lots of volunteer work (esp. at the animal shelter). I was also an intern for the Rainforest Alliance in New York last year and I received a scholarship to attend a Biological Conservation course at Columbia University last summer. I also have my own jewelry business that I am very serious about (I make everything myself). I'm going to take the Math l, Spanish, and Biology Subject Tests on Saturday but I don't think I'll do well. Will my extracurriculars help make up for my low scores? Can I still get into an Ivy, and if not can you recommend a good school to apply to? Thanks!

I have Lupus and back problems. he does not go out of his way to help me like cleaning house or doing laundry. when I say I hurt all over he has to say the same thing. I just want some love and caring but he's also the type that don't show his emotions but I do. I sit at home every day cleaning this or that. I'm getting tired of it and I'm not very happy. He don't even compliement me on how I look or the house looks nice or ever brings me a little something to cheer me up. I know I have my faults but I' don't ask a whole lot. I feel like running away and never coming back! For I don't feel cared for at all!

I don't tell my gf that I love her that often. Maybe once a week I'll slip it into a conversation. Don't get me wrong, I do lover...more than life itself!! But, I don't want to wear it off and plus I don't think she wants to hear it all the time. I think it make the guy come of as "soft" guy. Also, I think it means more when used less. The problem is that sometimes, I want to tell her so bad and don't which is painful...and other times I do tell her and don't get much of a reaction. What's up with that?

I am afraid I am not up for this. I don't think I write like college students suppose to write like. I feel like I know less math then some middle schoolers. I am lost right now and I feel like crying. Since I was in middle school I never did any review work at home only projects that were crucial in the class. I don't know If it's excuse but if i was a smart individual I think i won't need review like the rest of the people in my class.
